World Sight Day 2021: Tips for Better Vision

In order to maintain healthy vision, follow the tips below:

1- Eat well

Your plate should contain foods rich in omega-3 fatty acids, vitamin C, and vitamin E. Include a healthy serving of green vegetables, salmon, eggs, and citrus fruits. A healthy diet reduces the risk of diabetes, one of the leading causes of blindness.

2- Manage screen time

In an age where almost everything is digitized, managing screen time is of the utmost importance as it can lead to dry, itchy, or red eyes.

Some of the effective methods of managing screen time are as follows:

a. Take a screen break every 20 minutes.
b. When using a computer, be sure to use a supportive chair and keep your screen at eye level to avoid neck and shoulder pain and headaches.
vs. Don’t forget to blink your eyes.
D. Wear eye protection when using a computer, tablet, or phone.
e. Avoid using your phone or tablet while lying in bed.

3- get tested regularly

Get in the habit of getting tested regularly. Consult an ophthalmologist if a potential visual problem arises during screening.

4- Maintain a healthy lifestyle

A healthy lifestyle can dramatically improve your vision or reduce the risk of deteriorating eye health. This includes moderating alcohol consumption, stopping smoking, getting adequate eye rest, and doing eye exercises.

5- wear sunglasses

Whenever you go out in the sun, remember to wear sunglasses. Your sunglasses should offer you 99-100% protection against UVA and UVB rays.
