This weekend we are continuing a casual feature that we started a few months ago. This article can serve as the start of an open discussion thread where our readers can talk about issues that we have or have not yet addressed. This is literally off topic. It’s your turn to speak.

The usual comment rules apply. And remember, no personal attacks or politics, please.

Let’s enjoy a wide-ranging conversation!

Land of Fire. CBS.

Has anyone seen the pilot episode of land of fire Friday night on CBS? It features stars SEAL Team actor Max Thieriot playing a convict who works to redeem himself through CAL FIRE’s inmate fireteam program.

In May, CAL FIRE director Joe Tyler emailed agency employees stating that CAL FIRE was unhappy after a trailer was released. Here is an excerpt from the message:

This television series is a misrepresentation of the professional all-hazards fire department and resource protection agency that is CAL FIRE. The dramatization of inmate firefighters battling CAL FIRE members misrepresents the value of our camp program and the incredible work and leadership of our fire captains who oversee our crews.

While we cannot prevent this television series from airing, I believe it is important for each of you to learn directly from me that the Ministry was not involved in its creation or support.
