Mark Daigneault talks praise for LeBron’s Presti
Oklahoma City Thunder head coach Mark Daigneault was asked about Los Angeles Lakers’ Superstar LeBron James’ comments about Thunder GM Sam Presti during All-Star weekend.
“The MVP over there is Sam Presti. Him the MVP. I mean, Josh Giddey is awesome, but Sam Presti,” James said. “I don’t understand that guy’s eye for talent. He drafted KD, Russ, Jeff Green, Serge Ibaka, Reggie Jackson, Josh Giddey and the list goes on and on, this guy is damn good.
Here is Daigneault’s full response when asked about it on Tuesday:
“I’ll start by saying that LeBron and I agree on a lot of things. Including that one, I also have a lot of respect for Sam. A lot of my appreciation for Sam comes from the nuances of working with him. I think that people who are excellent at what they do and who are great craftsmen, they are good because of what is invisible. They are good because of what is invisible. They are good because of what is invisible. which is boring They do consistent, boring and unseen things to an extremely high level and I’ve worked with Sam for almost a decade now and I’ve seen this up close and only gained appreciation for it You notice more and more that as time goes by and the guy just has incredible determination, he has incredible attention to detail, he’s all about resources and putting everyone in the organization in advantageous positions. to do their best. He has an incredible ability to You had to, like I said, hold back and be patient in a very emotional and reactive environment. But he also doesn’t let that paralyze him when it comes time to get aggressive and take a calculated risk and I think he has incredible poise. I can give you countless examples of what makes it great, but I think if you had to condense it into one thing it’s that it does the unseen work very well, it does the detailing very well and it allows the cumulative effect to add value to the organization through his work and it sets us all a very good example to follow in our work. I have a lot more insight into him than LeBron and my respect is all the greater with that insight.
Based on that lengthy answer, it’s fair to say that Presti and Daigneault respect each other very well and that there is great organizational synergy within the Thunder.
