Duhuk, Jun 17, (VOI) - A group of persons accidentally found a 100-year-old rare animal, according to deputy rector of Duhuk University for scientific affairs on Tuesday.

“The animal, found accidentally this week in Bajiel region in Aqra district, western Duhuk, is unlike any other animal. It feeds on reptiles and bugs,” Hassan Amin told Aswat al-Iraq - Voices of Iraq - (VOI).

“After watching the short movie made by a group of ordinary persons, we can say that the extinct animal is more than 100 years-old and is related to the Dragon family,” Amin explained.

“We have discussed the issue with two specialized centers in Germany and Britain to know more details about this animal, which was discovered in the country for the first time,” he noted.

Duhuk is located 460 km north of Baghdad.

So a deputy rector for scientific affairs of Duhuk University thinks he’s found 100-year-old extinct Dragons? Yep, and these are the same people that still kill women convicted of being witches too.

The City of Morton Grove, Illinois has announced plans to revoke their local handgun ban, according to NPR.

Village Manager Joe Wade says Morton Grove isn’t going to wait for a court battle. It’s going to act.

“The village of Morton Grove has every intention to comply with [the Supreme Court ruling],” Wade says. “We’re going to propose an ordinance that would eliminate the possession-of-handgun ban within the village.”

Morton Grove made headlines in 1981 as the first community in the nation to ban the sale and possession of handguns.

And of particular note to us in Georgia:

In reaction to the radical Morton Grove anti-gun law, in March 1982, the town of Kennesaw, Georgia passed a law requiring each head of household to own and maintain a gun. Since then, crime in Kennesaw has dropped significantly and not a single resident has been involved in a fatal shooting – as a victim, attacker or defender. That’s twenty-six homicide-free years. Kennesaw’s population has jumped five-fold in that time but their crime rate has been cut in half.

In contrast, Morton Grove’s crime rate increased 15.7% after the gun ban was passed and today remains 11% higher than Kennesaw Georgia.

That’s because an Armed Society is a Polite Society. Who wants to start a fight with someone that has a pistol on their hip?

A 39-year-old Ypsilanti man used his concealed weapon and his experience in the Lebanese army to stop an alleged bank robber.

Police say a 54-year-old Joseph Webster of Washtenaw County attempted to rob a bank in Canton on Monday but his plans were foiled by Nabil Fawzi.

Webster walked into the Comerica Bank at 45420 Michigan Ave. and handed the bank teller a note, which read, “I have a bomb strapped around my waist. No dye packs.”

Canton police Detective Richard Pomorski said the teller activated the bank’s silent alarm and began to put $1 bills into a bag.

Another teller realized what was happening and informed Fawzi, who was the customer she was serving, about the robbery.

“I asked her is everything all right. They looked confused. She told me we might be getting robbed,” said Fawzi.

Police said the Fawzi then turned toward the suspect, pulled out a concealed handgun and pointed it at the suspect.

“I said, ‘You’re not going to rob this bank today.’ He said, ‘I have a bomb,’” said Fawzi. “I said ‘I don’t care. You’re not going to rob this bank today.”

Fawzi then escorted the suspect at gunpoint over to a chair where he was cornered until police arrived.

Police said he had a concealed weapons permit and the suspect did not have a bomb.

No injuries were reported.

Webster is charged with attempted bank robbery.

But how can this be? Doesn’t this Mere Mortal Citizen™ understand that he has no right to carry a Lethal Firearm into a bank? Don’t most banks have those terrible “No Guns” signs on their doors? And aren’t most banks “Gun Free Zones”?

No, most bank managers would rather us of the Great Unwashed not bring our lawful firearms into their banks. They would much rather the criminal be able to come in and steal all the money they want. And maybe the silent alarm would have summoned a cop that was only a block away, thereby creating either a shootout or a hostage situation, that way more civilians could have died. Or maybe the bank employed a Rent-A-Cop, someone that would have gotten the robber’s attention just long enough to get himself killed. Or maybe the criminal has a deathwish and wanted to make sure there were no witnesses and killed everyone.

But for goodness sake, please don’t allow law-abiding citizens to bring their legal firearms into a bank. Someone might accidentally stop a crime.

The M1911 is a single-action, semi-automatic pistol chambered for the .45 ACP cartridge. It was designed by John Browning, and was the standard-issue side arm for the United States armed forces from 1911 to 1985, and is still carried by some U.S. forces.

The Tacoma Police Department selected the Kimber Pro Carry II or Pro Carry II HD as optional, department supplied weapons available to its officers.

Despite being challenged by newer and lighter weight pistol designs in .45 caliber, such as the Glock 21, the SIGARMS P220 and the aforementioned Heckler & Koch Mk 23, the 1911 shows no signs of decreasing popularity, and continues to dominate shooting competitions.

The .45 ACP is a proven stopper. The only other handgun cartridge which has demonstrated
stopping power comparable to the .45 ACP is the 125 grain .357 Magnum jacketed hollowpoint. And Browning’s 1911 design is the perfect delivery platform for the .45 ACP bullet.

The Marine Corps Expeditionary Unit (The MEU) is an expeditionary intervention force capable of combat operations in virtually any environment. Each MEU is deployed aboard Navy ships as part of the Amphibious Ready Group (ARG) and may be a member of a carrier task force. A MEU normally consists of a Battalion Landing Team. the Ground Combat Element (reinforced battalion), a composite aircraft squadron (the Air Combat Element) and a service support group (the Combat Service Support Element). This unit comprises approximately 2,100 Marine force projection personnel. We are talking about the tip of one of America’s swords.

The involved 6-month pre-deployment training process for each MEU culminates in a formal “special operations capable” (SOC) evaluation and qualification test prior to its 6-month sea deployment. Scenarios for special operations capable Marines include, but are not limited to: In-Extremis Hostage Recovery, Seizure/Recovery of Offshore Energy Facilities. Specialized Demolition Operations, Tactical Recovery of Aircraft and Personnel, Seizure/Recovery of Selected Personnel or Material, Counter Proliferation of Weapons of Mass Destruction, and Visit, Board. Search and Seizure of Vessels. Not simple missions and not for those being faint of heart or less than highly motivated, well trained, well equipped and well-lead. But hey, they’re Marines.

The MEU(SOC) 1911 .45 Auto is the pistol these especially qualified SOC Marines carry. Why? Well, the official answer goes like, “The M1911A1 was chosen for this role … because of its inherent reliability and lethality …”

As one seasoned senior enlisted told me, “It’s not a fancy pistol. It’s a weapon you give a Marine to go kill people.”

The 1911 may be the last of the American cowboy guns. The 1911 launches a big, slow bullet. The Europeans, by way of contrast, tended to favor the smaller and faster cartridges such as the .32, .380, and 9mm Luger. But this is a case of the Europeans getting it wrong again, because size does matter.

A pistol is something you use to fight your way back to your rifle, and my rifle of choice is the AK-47 chambered in the heart-stopping 7.62×39mm. My PT1911, chambered in the equally heart-stopping .45 ACP, will give me the time necessary to stop the immediate threat or retreat to safer ground.

Now that the U.S. Supreme Court has ruled the Second Amendment means what it says, and that the right “of the people” to keep and bear arms applies to individual citizens regardless of service in a militia, Helmke and crew undoubtedly are feverishly trying to rework their strategies on how best to disarm as many citizens as possible.

That Helmke virtually admitted his group has never embraced the “right” to keep and bear arms —- instead essentially viewing gun ownership as a revocable privilege —- was astonishing. The fact that he viewed this as a battle against his fellow citizens demonstrates just how far afield the anti-gun movement has strayed from mainstream America.

Gun-control fanatics have had the foundation pulled from beneath their house of cards. For years, they have both lived and cultivated a lie about the meaning of the Second Amendment, leaving one justifiably curious about what other deceptions they have fostered in their crusade to disarm American citizens. They have masked their intentions with such terms as “sensible legislation” and “gun safety measure,” but the ultimate goal has always been to regulate gun ownership out of existence.

In every state there is some sort of “CeaseFire” or “Gun Safety” lobbying group whose definition of safety is total citizen disarmament. That is why anti-gunners are taking the Heller ruling so hard. It is difficult to erase a constitutionally protected civil right.

Imagine that. The Second Amendment is real. We can keep and bear arms. Now let’s agree that when a gun is used to commit a crime, the problem is with the shooter and not with the weapon.

Guns are no more evil than automobiles, swimming pools, or ladders. When used incorrectly or for bad purposes they can cause injury. When used correctly or for good purposes they can save lives.

You want to make a dent in the crime rate? Do something about getting criminals off the streets, not the guns.
