President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has raised the stakes against Israel by describing the Holocaust as a lie, just as world powers are trying to decide how to deal with the nuclear ambitions of an Iran in political turmoil.

“The pretext (Holocaust) for the creation of the Zionist regime (Israel) is false … It is a lie based on an unprovable and mythical claim,” he told worshippers at Tehran University at the end of an annual anti-Israel “Qods (Jerusalem) Day” rally.

“Confronting the Zionist regime is a national and religious duty.”

Experts at the world’s top atomic watchdog are in agreement that Tehran has the ability to make a nuclear bomb and is on the way to developing a missile system able to carry an atomic warhead, according to a secret report seen by The Associated Press.

The document drafted by senior officials at the International Atomic Energy Agency is the clearest indication yet that the agency’s leaders share Washington’s views on Iran’s weapon-making capabilities.

The document says Iran has “sufficient information” to build a bomb. It says Iran is likely to “overcome problems” on developing a delivery system.

The Iranian authorities have ordered the family of Neda Agha Soltan out of their Tehran home after shocking images of her death were circulated around the world.

Neighbours said that her family no longer lives in the four-floor apartment building on Meshkini Street, in eastern Tehran, having been forced to move since she was killed. The police did not hand the body back to her family, her funeral was cancelled, she was buried without letting her family know and the government banned mourning ceremonies at mosques, the neighbours said.

Just damn.

Not content with killing Neda for no reason, not content with giving her lifeless body back to her family, not content with burying her without letting her parents know, the leadership of Iran has thrown her family out of their home.

Iran’s leader is Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. A lot of the protests are focusing squarely on him.

Iranians are set to gather at 4pm (12:30 British time) for a rally to mourn the death of 27 year old student Neda Agha Soltani, dubbed the “Angel of Iran” after her death, allegedly at the hands of a Basij militiaman was caught on camera.

Neda was killed in Saturday during protests against the re-election of President Ahmadinejad. She was allegedly shot in the heart by a Basij militiaman, while attending the demonstration with her father.

Note that this is a war zone, with information severely restricted, but if this is true, then Neda may become the face of Iranian revolution.

Of course, CBS reporter Mark Knoller reports that the president decided today of all days would be a good time for a leisurely trip to the ice-cream parlor. Quoth Jim Treacher: “Imagine if Bush went on an ice cream run during something like this. He’d be ‘Worst Person in the World’ every day forever.”.

Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said Tuesday that Israel would “be soon swept away” from the Palestinian Territories by the Palestinians. It is the second time within less than three years that the Iranian president predicted the eradication of the Jewish state.

The first time was in 2005 when Ahmadinejad hoped that Israel would be eradicated from the Middle East map.

“This terrorist and criminal state is backed by foreign powers, but this regime would soon be swept away by the Palestinians,” Ahmadinejad said in a press conference in Tehran.

Referring to worldwide celebrations for the 60th anniversary of Israel’s foundation, he said that “it would be futile to hold a birthday ceremony for something which is already dead.”

“As far as the regional countries are concerned, this regime does not exist,” Ahmadinejad added.

The Iranian president said last week that the anniversary feasts could not save this “rotten and stinking corpse.”

Ahmadinejad caused international outrage in the past by hoping for the eradication of Israel, the relocation of the Jewish state to Europe or Alaska and questioning the historic dimensions of the Holocaust.

Don’t forget that Iranian military parades in Ahmadinedjad’s reign featured ballistic missiles adorned with slogans such as ‘Israel must be uprooted and erased from history’.

Don’t forget that Ahmadinejad stated: “In the world, there are deviations from the right path: Christianity and Judaism. Dollars have been devoted to the propagation of these deviations. There are also false claims that these [religions] will save mankind. But Islam is the only religion that [can] save mankind.”

Don’t forget that Iran has been on the U.S. list of state sponsors of international terrorism since 1984.

Don’t forget that Ahmadinejad described the September 11, 2001 attacks as a “suspect event.” He minimized the attacks by saying all that had happened was, “a building collapsed.” He claimed that the death toll was never published, that the victims’ names were never published.

A 70-year-old man has been sentenced by an Iranian judge to four months in jail and 30 lashes for going out on the street with his dog.

The incident took place in Shahr Rey, a suburb of Tehran when the owner of the dog was caught by a police who quickly handcuffed the man. He was later charged by an Islamic judge for “disturbing the public order”.

The sentence, seems to want to panic the owners of dogs that despite repeated warnings by the police, continue to defy the authorities by taking their dogs outside their homes.

The dogs are at the centre of a theological controversy because Islam considers dogs to be impure.

For this reason, the government has banned owners of domestic animals from taking them on the streets of the city, and owners risk fines or the ‘detention’ of their animals in a pound.

Grrrrr.

I’m a dog lover. I have four of them, and if I had enough open land I’d have 100. Dogs are far better lifeforms than many people I meet.

But not in Islam, where walking your “impure” dog will get you prison time and a beating.

Homosexuals deserve to be executed or tortured and possibly both, an Iranian leader told British MPs during a private meeting at a peace conference, The Times has learnt.

Mohsen Yahyavi is the highest-ranked politician to admit that Iran believes in the death penalty for homosexuality after a spate of reports that gay youths were being hanged.

President Ahmadinejad, questioned by students in New York two months ago about the executions, dodged the issue by suggesting that there were no gays in his country.

The latest row involves a woman hanged this June in the town of Gorgan after becoming pregnant by her brother. He was absolved after expressing his remorse. Britain said that this demonstrated the unequal treatment of men and women in law and breached Iran’s pledge to restrict the death penalty to the most serious crimes.

A series of reported executions of gays, including two underage boys whose public hanging was posted on the internet, has alarmed human rights campaigners.

I consider myself a Conservative Libertarian. I believe that people should be left alone unless something they do interferes with my life. If two guys want to fall in love, and express that love to each other, then as long as they don’t interfere with my life they should be allowed to live as they please.

While I’ve never been a homosexual, and while I’m not a great fan of their lifestyle, I cannot see how an official religious minister of a country can make a public statement calling for the public execution of one. Doesn’t that go against the commonly accepted definition of “minister” as a person that gives aid or comfort?

Fundamental Islam is still stuck in the 7th century. Maybe the rest of civilization should treat them as such.

During the week of October 22-26, 2007, the nation will be rocked by the biggest conservative campus protest ever – Islamo-Fascism Awareness Week, a wake-up call for Americans on 200 university and college campuses.

The purpose of this protest is as simple as it is crucial: to confront the two Big Lies of the political left: that George Bush created the war on terror and that Global Warming is a greater danger to Americans than the terrorist threat. Nothing could be more politically incorrect than to point this out. But nothing could be more important for American students to hear.

In the face of the greatest danger Americans have ever confronted, the academic left has mobilized to create sympathy for the enemy and to fight anyone who rallies Americans to defend themselves. According to the academic left, anyone who links Islamic radicalism to the war on terror is an “Islamophobe.” According to the academic left, the Islamo-fascists hate us not because we are tolerant and free, but because we are “oppressors.”

Islamo-Fascism Awareness Week is a national effort to oppose these lies and to rally American students to defend their country.

The LONG TERM goal of jihad is world domination – a global Islamic state under Islamic law. Jihad is not, as some Western apologists claim, simply a striving for individual perfection. Rather, jihad is an expansionist totalitarian ideology that seeks to establish a global Islamic state ruled by Islamic law, or sharia. Dr. Ayman al-Zawahiri, Osama bin Laden’s chief henchman said in the summer of 2006: “Jihad seeks the liberation of Palestine, the entire country of Palestine and to liberate every land that used to be a territory of Islam, from Spain to Iraq.”

Furthermore, it is our right to fight them with chemical and biological weapons.” The Saudi Sheikh Nasser ibn Hamed gives an even higher figure for appropriate American deaths: “If a bomb was dropped on them [i.e. the Americans] that would annihilate 10 million and burn their lands to the same extent that they burned the Muslim lands – this is permissible….”

The ideology of the Islamists whose ranks today include not only al-Qaeda but also Hamas and Hezbollah – originated with Egypt’s Muslim Brotherhood (al-Ikhwan al-Muslimoon) founded in 1928 by Sheikh Hassan al-Banna. And the Muslim Brotherhood finds not just its roots, but much of its symbolism, terminology, and political priorities deep within the heart of Nazi fascism.

The long legacy of Arab and Palestinian Nazism, and the Hitlerite themes of lebensraum, ethnic cleansing and genocide, continue to echo in the Middle East today. Hassan Nasrallah, leader of Hezbollah, said of the Jews after the Lebanon war of 2006: “If they gather in Israel, it will save us the trouble of going after them nationwide.” Mahmoud Zahar, Hamas Foreign Minister, says: “I dream of hanging a huge map of the world on the wall at my Gaza home which does not show Israel on it.” And most chillingly, Ali Akabar Hashemi Rafsanjani, former President of Iran, looks ahead to the next holocaust and final solution: “The use of a nuclear bomb in Israel will leave nothing on the ground, whereas it will only damage the world of Islam.”

The US State Department calls Iran a state sponsor of terror, and Ahmadinejad has called the Holocaust “a myth” and urged for Israel to be destroyed.

Columbia President Lee Bollinger, in announcing Ahmadinejad’s upcoming appearance, described the event as part of “Columbia’s long-standing tradition of serving as a major forum for robust debate.”

So at the request of the Iranian government, Columbia University will host the president of a terrorist regime which is right now responsible for the deaths of American soldiers on the field of battle. Indeed, this distinguished guest, who is so honoring Columbia by his presence, will be introduced by no one less than president Lee Bollinger.

• On Wednesday evening, the gathering came to an untimely demise when, a minute into the remarks by the founder of the Minuteman Project, Jim Gilchrist, Columbia University students stormed the stage, overturning tables and chairs and attacking Mr. Gilchrist and fellow Minutemen Marvin Stewart and Jerome Corsi. Having taken control of the stage, the students, led by the student chapter of the International Socialist Organization, unfurled a banner that read, in both Arabic and English, “Nobody is Illegal.”
• Columbia students who want to serve their country cannot enroll in the Reserve Officers Training Corps (ROTC) at Columbia. Columbia students who want to enroll in ROTC must travel to other universities to fulfill their obligations. ROTC has been banned from the Columbia campus since 1969. In 2003, a majority of polled Columbia students supported reinstating ROTC on campus. But in 2005, when the Columbia faculty senate debated the issue, President Bollinger joined the opponents in defeating the effort to invite ROTC back on campus.

Mr. Bollinger, you do nothing while anarchists dismantle a forum aimed at controlling illegal immigration.

Mr. Bollinger, you fall all over yourself to welcome the man who denies the Holocaust, who is doing everything in his power (against international will) to develop nuclear weapons, a man who is supporting the training and arming of terrorists in Iraq, has publicly supported international terrorism that targets innocent American civilians, a man who suppresses of civil society and women’s rights and gay rights in his own country, who imprisons journalists and scholars, but you will not allow the military’s ROTC program on your campus.

Columbia is a private institution. There is no 1st Amendment guarantee of free speech at Columbia. No, this is about Columbia President Lee Bollinger and his Liberal minions to further elevate those that would do damage to the US and to Israel and do it while receiving taxpayer funds. Hitler can only dream that his job would have been this easy back in the 1930′s.

In an interview with The New York Sun, the speaker of the Assembly, Sheldon Silver, said lawmakers, outraged over Columbia’s insistence on allowing the Iranian president to speak at its World Leaders Forum, would consider reducing capital aid and other financial assistance to the school.

“There are issues that Columbia may have before us that obviously this cavalier attitude would be something that people would recall,” Mr. Silver said. “Obviously, there’s some degree of capital support that has been provided to Columbia in the past. These are things people might take a different view of … knowing that this is that kind of an institution.”

Mr. Silver faulted Columbia for “attempting to legitimize this individual,” saying, “We have an obligation because of the U.N. to allow him to come to this country. It doesn’t mean we have to make him welcome. We don’t have to give him a forum.”

“He’s clearly responsible for the deaths of Americans both in Iraq and elsewhere. And he remains as much a threat to the world as anybody today. I don’t understand what this dean and Columbia are thinking,” Mr. Silver said.

The dean of Columbia Law School, David Schizer, in a statement called Mr. Ahmadinejad “a reprehensible and dangerous figure,” and said it would be “deeply regrettable if some misread this invitation as lending prestige or legitimacy to his views.”

“Reprehensible and dangerous figure” would also apply to Columbia President Lee Bollinger.

Back in the 1930s, the governments of the democratic countries knew what Hitler was doing — and they knew that they had enough military superiority at that point to stop his military buildup in its tracks. But they did nothing to stop him.

Instead, they turned to what is still the magic mantra today — “negotiations.”

No leader of a democratic nation was ever more popular than British Prime Minister Neville Chamberlain — wildly cheered in the House of Commons by opposition parties as well as his own — when he returned from negotiations in Munich in 1938, waving an agreement and declaring that it meant “peace in our time.”

We know now how short that time was. Less than a year later, World War II began in Europe and spread across the planet, killing tens of millions of people and reducing many cities to rubble in Europe and Asia.

Looking back after that war, Winston Churchill said, “There was never a war in all history easier to prevent by timely action.” The earlier it was done, the less it would have cost.

At one point, Hitler could have been stopped in his tracks “without the firing of a single shot,” Churchill said.

History may be interesting but it is the present and the future that pose the crucial question: Is America today the France of yesterday?

We know that Iran is moving swiftly toward nuclear weapons while the United Nations is moving slowly — or not at all — toward doing anything to stop them.

Nuclear weapons in the hands of Iran and its international terrorist allies will be a worst threat than Hitler ever was. But, before that happens, the big question is: Are we France? Are we morally paralyzed, perhaps fatally?
