An unknown group calling itself Deccan Mujahideen has claimed responsibility for the massacre in Mumbai. There is some talk of the attacks coming from a group called the Indian Mujahedeen. A U.S. counterterrorism official said the level of sophistication in the attack leads officials to believe that it might be tied to Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), although LeT denies any responsibility. But the sophistication of the execution of the attacks, and the deliberate targeting of Westerners, makes it probable that it was, in fact, Lashkar-e-Taiba that is responsible.

Lashkar-e-Taiba – the Army of the Righteous or Pure – is the terrorist wing of the Pakistan-based Islamic religious party, Markaz-ud-Dawa-wal-Irshad (an Islamic anti-Christian missionary organization that was formed in 1989). It is one of the three largest and best-trained terrorist groups murdering and mutilating Hindus, Christians, Communists, and peaceful Muslims in Kashmir, the northwestern region of the Indian subcontinent. It is a jihadi group of Wahhabi persuasion, backed by Saudi money and protected by Pakistani intelligence services.

Lashkar-e-Tayyba is a member of Osama bin Laden’s International Islamic Front for Jihad against the U.S. and Israel, as well as of the United Jihad Council. Its chief sponsor is the Pakistani government, supposedly a US ally in the fight against global terrorism.

The Lashkar-e-Tayyba’s agenda is outlined in a pamphlet titled “Why are we waging jihad.” It includes the restoration of Islamic rule over all parts of India and propagates a narrow Islamic fundamentalism based on the Wahabi sect.

Gunmen arrived by boats at the Mumbai waterfront near the Gateway of India monument in Mumbai, India, on Wednesday night, November 26. The gunmen hijacked cars, including a police van, and split into at least three groups to carry out their attacks, killing more than 120 people, with another 300-900 people wounded. Innocent people. Unarmed civilians. People guilty of no crime.

One group headed toward the Cafe Leopold, a popular hangout for Western tourists, firing indiscriminately at passers-by on the street. The group then opened fire and lobbed grenades at the Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus railway station. As police rushed to the scene of the attacks, gunmen attacked the Cama Hospital for women and infants. Several people were killed at the hospital.

Two other groups attacked the Oberoi and Taj Mahal hotels, taking hostages there. The gunmen also took hostages at the Chabad House, where several Jewish families live. The gunmen gunmen fired indiscriminately from the Chabad House. Stray bullets killed a couple in their home and a 16-year-old boy who stepped outside.

Authorities found 8 kilograms (17 pounds) of RDX, one of the most powerful kinds of military explosives, at a restaurant near the Taj, indicating that the attackers may have been planning more violence.

The terrorists launched a sophisticated, multi-pronged attack into a city of 18 million residents. This requires planning, training, funding, and detailed reconnaissance. The targets were chosen carefully to achieve maximum effect. The terrorists hit hotels, a train station, a movie house, a residential complex, and a hospital – all soft targets. They also were able to plant bombs in taxis as well as capture a police van, which was then used in a drive-by shooting spree. The assault teams coordinated and synchronized their attacks to overwhelm Mumbai security. The terrorists were able to take a significant number of hostages. They knew where to find foreigners.

Was this a practice round for an attack in England or the US? Was India selected because of its lack of security? There is already evidence that Westerners, not Indians or Hindu, were specifically targeted. Was al-Qaeda quietly behind all of this?

Is there anyone else out there besides me that is really getting fed up with Islamic terrorism? No, not Christian, Jewish, or Hindu terrorism. No, not Buddhist or Shintoist terrorism. And no, not even n Shamanistic, Paganistic, or Scientologist rooted terrorism.

Islamic terrorism, from The Religion Of Peace™, that is responsible for approximately a quarter of all terrorism fatalities worldwide, as well as various acts of acts airline hijacking, beheading, kidnapping, torture, assassination, roadside bombing, suicide bombing, and rape. If you pull your head out of the sand (or maybe your butt) for more than a few moments you will discover that terrorism and violence in Islam isn’t a phenomenon due to either political or economic injustices, nor is it a recent phenomenon, nor is it an infrequent phenomenon. The painful truth, the one that few media elites or social apologists are loathe to speak, is that terrorism and violence are fundamental components of Islam. Hatred of the Jews and the Christians, and the call for their killing, is quite normal, and is a divinely ordained obligation which is placed on all Muslims by Allah. The Quran promises that death in the cause of Islam transports one instantly to Paradise.

The larger, richer, and more powerful Islam becomes, the more deaths by terrorists will be seen on the nightly news.

Personally I think there was never an actual ban. The Indian government made speeches and sent memos describing a ban against me and 16 others because we are critical of Islamofascism – they were hoping that this would keep the Islamofascists in their country from blowing up any more trains. But in practice nothing changed and people in India were free to browse and surf as they always had, keeping those in India searching for outside opinion happy.

I had forgotten about this silly ban until I saw CNN’s website yesterday. The new spokesperson for the Band Of The Banned, Jessica Alba, and I had, earlier this summer, sat down for some interviews on the subject and CNN finally decided to publish them.

As for “other” rumors concerning Ms. Alba and your humble host: “no comment”.

Some from India are saying that they’re having absolutely no problems accessing this site. I’ve always had the suspicion that this “ban” was spotty at best. More of an embarassment of the government than a true effort to stifle outside opinion.

Maybe it was spotty by design; an appeasement for those making the most noise against outside opinion while in effect doing nothing for the silent majority wanting outside opinion.

(laughing) My family –still– thinks I’m some sort of rebel or hero: “My Daddy got banned by India, what’s your Dad done?”

Sure, the Musharraf regime is unelected and hardly a paragon of western constitutionalism. Despite being allies of the US in the War On Terror, something paid for by downsizing of the economic sanctions imposed on Pakistan after the 1998 nuclear tests, Pakistan warrants criticism for many reasons. Musharraf himself has a dubious past, being centrally-involved in the 1999 incursions by Pakistan-based Islamists across the Line of Control. Maybe is it the case tha religious zealots can’t or won’t overthrow the government in Pakistan. However, the complex interaction between Islamist, intelligence, elements of the military, and others suggests that any official line that offends the wrong people in any of these areas of the Pakistani political system could have a chain reaction effect that could prove fatal to the Musharraf regime – a fragile balancing act that could alwo be present in India. We’re already seeing how one Madrid bombing by Islamic terrorists have caused the Spanish government to become “more cozy” with Islam and “less critical” of Islamic terrorism. Again I’m talking about Dhimmitude out of fear.

So what will become of India? They are but one further example of a move towards Islamic dominaton of the entire planet. Islam rarely, if ever, allows co-existance. To them all Infidels must be destroyed. Towards that goal they strike fear in gentle, civilized people, pushing them into Dhimmitude – non-Muslims submitting to Muslim authority or intimidation. To achieve that goal these barbarians employ such tactics as suicide bombings in civilian areas, firing missiles into civilian areas, and flying civilian aircraft into civilian buildings.

They lack the ability (or the will) to attack a military force, and the death of a soldier doesn’t always carry the same weight as the death of an old lady or a bus of young school girls. Civilian targets are softer and earier to find and exploit. And they are effective. One only has to look at the Madrid bombings, and watch the new Spanish government bending over backwards to appease the terrorists, so see that attacking civilians can have great effect. India knows that this is not a new tactic. The United States and England are learning.

For the record I support India and their right to live peacefully as a Hindu-majority state. For this they banned access to this blog because the militant Muslims have instilled fear into the Indian government, because militant Islam does not want and will not allow opposing opinion to their heavy-handed tactics of fear, intimidation, and death. Their brand of Islam is a cult of death, a cancer on civilization, one that will never completely ban voices of freedom.

Gandhi was opposed to the Muslims separating from India. A Muslim asked him the following question, “If two brothers were living together in the same house and wanted to separate and live in two different houses, would you object?” Gandhi replied, ” Ah, if only we could separate as two brothers. Again in the summer of 1999, Pakistan sparked another battle over Kashmir when Pakistani-backed forces infiltrated Indian-controlled Kashmir. The two-month battle ended when Pakistani forces withdrew. India remains in control of about two-thirds of Kashmir and Pakistan roughly one-third.

The great Mogul Emperor of India of the seventeenth century, Jehangir, once said of the beauty of the Kashmir valley: “If there is a heaven on earth, it is here, it is here, it is here.” That heaven now, in the twenty-first century, is marred by streaks of blood. Four wars have been fought between India and Pakistan over it, its status has been pending with the U.N. since 1948, and it has become an issue in superpower politics as well.

Kashmir was for centuries ruled by more than 20 Hindu, Buddhist, Jain and Zoroastrian dynasties. The 14th century saw the start of 479 years of Muslim rule, including 240 years of independence that ended with the state’s conquest by the Sikh kingdom in neighbouring Punjab.

The British conquered Kashmir 27 years later in 1846 and sold it to a Hindu general of the Sikh kingdom, Gulab Singh, whose Dogra dynasty ruled the region until Hari Singh’s accession to India.

Kashmir’s importance in Indian politics lies in the fact that it is the symbol of the very ideological basis of the Indian state. Kashmir’s integration in Pakistan could not be acceptable because it would have validated the Pakistani Premiere Mr. Jinnah’s two-nation theory – one for Hindus and one for Muslims – the two, not being capable of living together in peace. Even he understands that Islam rarely, if ever, allows co-existance.

What started out as an indigenous rebellion has now been taken over by extremist Muslim or Islamic militants with the support of Pakistan. It is believed that there are thousands such militants fighting India in Kashmir. Some experts point to the close relations which exists between these groups and Pakistan’s military and intelligence forces. India accused Pakistan of allowing fighters to cross over into India-controlled Kashmir and attacked its forces there. India blamed the Kashmiri militants for the attack on the Indian Parliament, killing twelve people.

Among the international community is a fairly widespread consensus that the onus is on President Pervez Musharraf to curb the activities of Muslim extremists operating out of Pakistan. Musharraf is the ruler of Pakistan after seizing power in a bloodless coup in 1999. Of course, if these groups, and their official benefactors in the Pakistani military and intelligence elite, were to cease operations tomorrow, then much of the tensions currently palpable would subside. If only things were as simple as that.

The US demands that Musharraff crack down on Islamic extremists operating in Pakistan have been a requirement of the War on Terror from the outset. Terrorist groups proscribed by the State Dept. must be dealt with without exception, and there is no doubt that Jaish-e-Muhammed (the murderers of American journalist Daniel Pearl) and Lashkar-e-Taiba fit the bill more than adequately. As the tensions over Kashmir increased, due to the inability or lack of will to rein in these groups largely responsible for provoking India, the international demands on Pakistan have increased proportionally.

The Republic of India is located in Southern Asia, bordering the Arabian Sea and the Bay of Bengal, between Burma and Pakistan.

According to CIA’s Factbook, the ethnic groups in India are Indo-Aryan (72%), Dravidian (25%) and Mongoloid plus other (3%). The percentages related to religion are 89% Hindu, 14% Muslim, 2.4% Christian, 2% Sikh, 0.7% Buddhist, 0.5% Jains and 0.4% other.

I’ll get back to this later, but it’s important to realize that 89% of the people in India are Hindu and only 14% are Muslim. Yet it is appreaing more and more every day that the Muslim minority is starting to command and demand how India behaves. Just like in so many other areas on the Earth you either have to physically fight against Muslim encroachment into your life or you appease and box down to it. Islam rarely allows co-existance. Such willingness to allow Islam to step over you is called “Dhimmitude“.

India reached the independence from the United Kingdom in 1947 and has a constitution since 1950. The Indian legal system is based on English common law.

As two nations united by history but divided by destiny, India and Pakistan are almost like two estranged siblings. Their rivalries over five decades have prevented both countries from realizing their full economic and geopolitical potential.

The two countries have fought three wars, two of them over the disputed region of Kashmir. The region is small, but nestled in the foothills of the Himalayas, its strategic importance and beauty make it a prized possession.

The friction between India and Pakistan is relevant to the rest of the world not only because both are the newest members of the nuclear club; it also affects the stability and economic potential of region that includes more than a billion people, some 950 million in India alone.

Prior to World War II, Pakistan did not exist as a nation. The whole area of India was controlled by Great Britain for over a century. The two most populous groups – Hindus and Muslims – have been hostile to each other for many centuries. Under the leadership of Mohandas Gandhi, the Indians fought the British for their independence. After much fighting and bloodshed, Great Britain agreed to grant independence.

But there was a big problem. Since Hindus made up the majority of the population in the country, the Muslims refused to lived in an independent state dominated by Hindus. They argued that such a state would destroy Islam and discriminate against Muslims. Instead, they demanded a separate and independent state of their own to be called Pakistan. Realizing that it would be impossible for the two groups to live together peacefully, Britain agreed to partition India. Islam rarely, if ever, allows co-existance. On August 15, 1947, both countries became independent nations. Pakistan was actually made up of two areas, West Pakistan (to the northwest of India) and East Pakistan (to the northeast of India). Both areas were separated by over a thousand miles. East Pakistan later broke away and became Bangladesh.

The problems began soon after. You would think that the Muslims would be happy at having a country “created” just for them. But with their desire to conquer the entire world the majority-Hindu India is now under attack by Islam. Again let me say that Islam rarely, if ever, allows co-existance.

India‘s Internet regulators have started blocking several Web sites in a move that borrows a page from China, where government censors heavily restrict the flow of online information.

India’s Department of Telecommunications sent an order late last week to Internet-service providers to block several Web sites, according to a department spokesman. The spokesman, Rajesh Malhotra, declined to disclose the contents of the letter or discuss the order, saying it was a “confidential exchange of information between the department and the operators.”

Several telecom operators confirmed there were more than 15 sites they were directed to block. Close to a third of the sites were home to blogs, the personalized Web logs that have become popular in India, just as they have in other parts of the world. Among the Web sites blocked are parts of Blogger and GeoCities. Included on a list seen by The Wall Street Journal are sites that showcase views of an Islamic holy man, conservative Hindus, and Dalits, the low caste in India pejoratively referred to as untouchables.

The Internet-service providers declined to explain how the sites were blocked or whether all Internet users in India would be affected.

Most Indian newspapers have reported the ban. They have also included the URLs of the banned sites.

And one of the listed sites, according to this scanned copy the order by the Indian government, is my former blog at commonfolkcomonsense.blogspot.com. I don’t know if they singled me out because of my being hosted at Blogger or because of any particular posts.

But I haven’t even blogged at my old site since December 2005. And I’ve erased a bunch of the stuff that’s still left over there. And I thought I had already cancelled that site with Blogger.

Geez.

What’s going on here? I’ve been supportive of India’s battle against intrusive militant Islam, and this is how they repay me? Hey India, can you spell “Dhimmitude“? This is crazy.
