The scientific consensus that mankind has caused climate change was rocked yesterday as a leading academic called it a “load of hot air underpinned by fraud”.

Professor Ian Plimer condemned the climate change lobby as “climate comrades” keeping the “gravy train” going.

In a controversial talk just days before the start of a climate summit attended by world leaders in Copenhagen, Prof Plimer said Governments were treating the public like “fools” and using climate change to increase taxes.

He said carbon dioxide has had no impact on temperature and that recent warming was part of the natural cycle of climate stretching over ­billions of years.

Prof Plimer – author of Heaven and Earth: Global Warming, The Missing Science – told a London audience: “Climates always change. They always have and they always will. They are driven by a number of factors that are random and cyclical.”

The whole Climate Change circus was driven by one-world-government seekers hoping to find a vehicle by which to command other nations … and their citizens. Genuine science was never involved.

A scientist who is one of the central figures in the controversy over hacked e-mails from the University of East Anglia‘s Climate Research Unit announced Tuesday that he is stepping down while the university investigates the incident.

Climate skeptics have seized on several e-mails from Phil Jones, director of the university’s Climatic Research Unit, to other researchers as evidence that prominent scientists have sought to silence their voice in the debate over global warming. The e-mails were pirated and posted online last month.

Marc Morano, who edits the climate skeptic blog, ClimateDepot.com, welcomed the news with an e-mail stating, “One Down: ClimateGate Scientist Phil Jones to temporarily step down… ‘pending investigation into allegations that he overstated case for man-made climate change.’”

Overstated? What about “purposefully lied?”

The Penn State administration plans to investigate Climategate and determine if it needs to take further action, the Daily Collegian reports. A little more than a week ago, E-mails exchanged among an English university’s climate change researchers were illegally obtained from a server and posted online, the report says.

Climate change opponents say the E-mails indicate that climate change researchers—including Penn State Prof. Michael Mann—exaggerated or fabricated global warming data. And, according to the report, some E-mails indicate that the director of the research unit in question may have contacted researchers and asked them to “delete certain E-mails.”

Faked the data. Conspired to keep the data fake. Nice job, scientists.

Police and authorities in several European countries are investigating scams worth billions of kroner, which all originate in the Danish quota register. The CO2 quotas are traded in other EU countries.

James Inhofe (R-Okla.), ranking member of the Senate Committee on Environment and Public Works, is calling on Chairman Barbara Boxer (D-Calif.) to conduct hearings on a possible conspiracy between some of the world’s most prominent climatologists to, among other things, manipulate data on so-called global warming. Inhofe said the recent disclosure of emails between several prominent climatologists reveal “possible deceitful manipulation of important data and research used by the US Global Change Research Program” and the UN’s Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change.”

Deceitful manipulation by both a US government agency and a UN agency? Nah, say it ain’t so.

Daryl Zutt was on a pig hunting and fishing trip with a friend in northern Queensland when he pulled over by the side of the road.

Crouching down to answer nature’s call, he felt a sharp sting to his manhood. Moments later he saw a brown snake – one of the world’s most venomous species – slither out from between his legs.

Mr Zutt, a carpenter from Cairns, has since been bombarded with jokes about trouser snakes, but he said at the time he thought his life was about to end.

“I thought I was gone. I thought, ‘Maybe, this is it. Maybe, I’m gonna cark it’.

“I squatted down – I reckon I must have nearly sat on his head,” he said.

“As soon as I felt it, I yelled. It really hurt. When it happened, I knew in the back of my mind it was a snake. I seen him coming out from between my legs.

“He got me about halfway down. I saw fang marks and a bit of blood come out.”

Mr Zutt said he used a cold can of rum and coke to help soothe the pain, and rang his mother on a mobile phone to say a final goodbye.

Details of the almost fatal encounter were revealed by The Cairns Post a fortnight ago but at the time the victim’s identity was not known.

It was only today that Mr Zutt decided to come forward and recount his close encounter on the rugged and sparsely populated Cape York Peninsula.

He shouted out to his mate, who drove him to the nearby settlement of Lakeland to find medical help.

By the time the pair arrived, Mr Zutt felt nauseous and had stomach cramps. “I couldn’t talk properly. I was tongue-tied,” he told The Cairns Post.

He was treated by a paramedic and taken to hospital in nearby Cooktown, named after Capt James Cook.

Tests revealed that although the snake had drawn blood, its venom had not entered his system.

He said the jokes started as soon as his mates knew he was going to be alright.

“They’ve been saying things like ‘It was a trouser snake fight’ and ‘He [the snake] saw the competition and got scared’”.

The common brown snake has the second most potent venom of any land snake, after the inland taipan, also found in Australia.

One year after gun owners were forced to surrender 640,381 personal firearms to be destroyed, including semi-automatic .22 rifles and shotguns, a program costing the government over $500 million, the results are in.

A dramatic increase in criminal activity has been experienced.

DON’T YOU DARE, for a moment, think this couldn’t happen in the United States. I consider the Australians to be some of the most rugged, most independent, most freedom-loving people on the planet, strikingly similar to Americans. And, like the US, they have their own problems with neo-Socialists in their government wanting to “solve” the problem of crime merely by removing one particular tool of the criminals, a useless act that has been proven time and time again never to work.

And yet there you are, seriously considering voting a Liberal Congress to Washington, and maybe even voting a Liberal into the White House.

The US Congress‘ vote to push for the withdrawal of troops from Iraq was wrong and will bring comfort to Al-Qaeda insurgents, Australian Prime Minister John Howard said Friday.

The Democrat-dominated US Senate on Thursday passed legislation which set a timeline for the recall of US troops from Iraq, where the US has been engaged in a bloody war since March 2003.

US President George W Bush has vowed to veto the law.

Howard, a staunch Bush supporter who has also committed troops to Iraq and Afghanistan, said the vote by the US Congress was “probably not helpful to the general situation in Iraq.”

“I think it is wrong, and I don’t think it is doing anything other than giving great comfort and encouragement to Al-Qaeda and the insurgency in Iraq,” Howard said.

“They are looking at all this, they read newspapers, they see it on television and they say, ‘The American domestic resolve is weakening, therefore we should maintain our resolve.’

“If there is a perception of an America defeat in Iraq, that will leave the whole of the Middle East in great turmoil and will be an enormous victory for terrorism.”

Even Arizona Senator John McCain, not known as a strong Conservative, recently said, “If we leave Iraq, there will be chaos, there will be genocide, and they will follow us home,” calling the war against al-Qaida “a struggle between good and evil.”

People are more interested in their careers . . . they don’t want to have babies,” Sheik Green says in one DVD. “So don’t you think, Muslim brothers and sisters, we’ve got a bit of an opportunity here? They’re not having babies any more. So what if, instead, we have the babies? “In Canada one in three or one in four children being born is a Muslim. What does that do to the demographic shift of a Muslim population in 20 years’ time?

The nation’s most senior Muslim cleric has blamed immodestly dressed women who don’t wear Islamic headdress for being preyed on by men and likened them to abandoned “meat” that attracts voracious animals.

In a Ramadan sermon that has outraged Muslim women leaders, Sydney-based Sheik Taj Din al-Hilali also alluded to the infamous Sydney gang rapes, suggesting the attackers were not entirely to blame.

“But the problem, but the problem all began with who?” he asked.

In the religious address on adultery to about 500 worshippers in Sydney last month, Sheik Hilali said: “If you take out uncovered meat and place it outside on the street, or in the garden or in the park, or in the backyard without a cover, and the cats come and eat it … whose fault is it, the cats or the uncovered meat?

“The uncovered meat is the problem.”

The sheik then said: “If she was in her room, in her home, in her hijab, no problem would have occurred.”

He said women were “weapons” used by “Satan” to control men.

“It is said in the state of zina (adultery), the responsibility falls 90 per cent of the time on the woman. Why? Because she possesses the weapon of enticement (igraa).”

Australia’s most prominent female Muslim leader, Aziza Abdel-Halim, said the hijab did not “detract or add to a person’s moral standards”, while Islamic Council of Victoria spokesman Waleed Ali said it was “ignorant and naive” for anyone to believe that a hijab could stop sexual assault.

“Anyone who is foolish enough to believe that there is a relationship between rape or unwelcome sexual interference and the failure to wear a hijab, clearly has no understanding of the nature of sexual crime,” he said.

“It’s basically saying that the immoral response of men to women who are not fully covered is as natural and as inevitable as the response of an animal tempted by food,” he said.
