So the following are facts, based on the government’s own figures.

* Obama‘s stimulus, passed in his first month in office, will cost more than the entire Iraq War — more than $100 billion (15%) more.
* Just the first two years of Obama’s stimulus cost more than the entire cost of the Iraq War under President Bush, or six years of that war.
* Iraq War spending accounted for just 3.2% of all federal spending while it lasted.
* Iraq War spending was not even one quarter of what we spent on Medicare in the same time frame.
* Iraq War spending was not even 15% of the total deficit spending in that time frame. The cumulative deficit, 2003-2010, would have been four-point-something trillion dollars with or without the Iraq War.
* The Iraq War accounts for less than 8% of the federal debt held by the public at the end of 2010 ($9.031 trillion).
* During Bush’s Iraq years, 2003-2008, the federal government spent more on education that it did on the Iraq War. (State and local governments spent about ten times more.)

The war cost us under $100 billion a year for eight years, which is small in comparison to Federal spending. So even if you detested the war, one of those that say “Bush’s illegal war”, Obama’s federal spending has done much more harm to the US than the war in Iraq.

The Left really doesn’t care about spending, they only scream about who it’s being spent on. But don’t get me wrong, as the Republicans are just as evil and nefarious as the Democrats. I yearn for the day when we have a real, viable Third Party in US politics.

The current maze of taxes keep free people in slavery. You may think the current progressive income tax is a heavy burden on you and your family, but do you have any concept of the dozens of hidden taxes that you pay daily in addition to what is removed from your paycheck?

Forget all the political rhetoric about “taxing the rich”. Are you beginning to see how much of the money the government swallows everyday is being paid by the middle class? At the end of the day you have no idea how much money is coming out of your wallet and falling squarely into the government’s lap – just the way they like it, because we cannot complain about something we’re not aware of.

Until, and unless, the tax code is grossly simplified and applied equally to everyone, this overburdening of the middle class will continue unabated. The FairTax is a great way to accomplish most of this reform.

The FairTax (HR 25 in the US House and S 296 in the US Senate) is a federal retail sales tax that replaces the entire federal income and Social Security tax systems, including personal, gift, estate, capital gains, alternative minimum, Social Security/Medicare, self-employment, and corporate taxes. The FairTax allows Americans to keep 100 percent of their paychecks (minus any state income taxes), ends corporate taxes and compliance costs hidden in the retail cost of goods and services, and fully funds the federal government while fulfilling the promise of Social Security and Medicare.

- ALL federal income taxes and federal payroll taxes will be replaced with The FairTax, also called a consumption tax or a national retail sales tax.
- You decide how much you pay in taxes when you spend, not the government.
- Brackets of taxation are eliminated. There is just one rate for everyone.
- Job creation in the USA would take off, because embedded taxes and taxes on corporate profits would be eliminated.
- Visibility of the federal taxes we pay would be crystal clear.
- Groceries and basic necessities are not taxed.
- Capital gains taxes are eliminated. More investment means more jobs.

1. Identify constitutionality of every new law: Require each bill to identify the specific provision of the Constitution that gives Congress the power to do what the bill does.

2. Reject emissions trading: Stop the “cap and trade” administrative approach used to control pollution by providing economic incentives for achieving reductions in the emissions of pollutants.

3. Demand a balanced federal budget: Begin the Constitutional amendment process to require a balanced budget with a two-thirds majority needed for any tax modification.

4. Simplify the tax system: Adopt a single-rate tax system; eliminate the internal revenue code and replace it with one that is no longer than 4,543 words.

5. Audit federal government agencies for constitutionality: Create a Blue Ribbon taskforce that engages in an audit of federal agencies and programs, assessing their Constitutionality, and identifying duplication, waste, ineffectiveness, and agencies and programs better left for the states or local authorities.

6. Limit annual growth in federal spending: Impose a statutory cap limiting the annual growth in total federal spending to the sum of the inflation rate plus the percentage of population growth.

7. Repeal the health care legislation passed on March 23, 2010: Defund, repeal and replace the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act.

8. Pass an ‘All-of-the-Above’ Energy Policy: Authorize the exploration of additional energy reserves to reduce American dependence on foreign energy sources and reduce regulatory barriers to all other forms of energy creation.

9. Reduce Earmarks: Place a moratorium on all earmarks until the budget is balanced, and then require a 2/3 majority to pass any earmark.

10. Reduce Taxes: Permanently repeal all recent tax increases, and extend permanently the George W. Bush temporary reductions in income tax, capital gains tax and estate taxes, currently scheduled to end in 2011.

The First Lady’s ill-conceived trip to Marbella and the complete disregard for public opinion and concerns over excessive government spending is symbolic of a far wider problem with the Obama presidency – the overarching disdain for the principles of limited government, individual liberty and free enterprise that have built the United States over the course of nearly two and a half centuries into the most powerful and free nation on earth.

It is epitomised above all by the President’s relentless drive towards big government against the will of the American people, and the dramatic increases in government spending and borrowing, which threaten to leave the US hugely in debt for generations. It is also showcased by Barack Obama’s drive towards a socialised health care system, which, as I’ve noted before, is “a thinly disguised vanity project for a president who is committed to transforming the United States from the world’s most successful large-scale free enterprise economy, to a highly interventionist society with a massive role for centralized government.”

There is however a political revolution fast approaching Washington that is driven not by mob rule but by the power of ideas and principles, based upon the ideals of the Founding Fathers and the US Constitution. It is a distinctly conservative revolution that is sweeping America and is reflected in almost every poll ahead of this November’s mid-terms. It is based on a belief in individual liberty, limited government, and above all, political accountability from the ruling elites. The Obama administration’s mantra may well be “let them eat cake”, as it continues to gorge itself on taxpayers’ money, but it will be looking nervously over its shoulder as public unease mounts.

It is sad that this had to come from the British media, as the US liberal media continue to remain silent about anything critical of “their” President.

When President Obama took office in January 2009, the national debt was $9.5 trillion, which is nearly $32,000 for every man, woman and child living in this country. The national debt as of this writing is nearly $14 trillion, which is $45,000 for every man, woman and child living in this country. That’s a historic increase in a historic short period of time!

The 2010 congressional elections are sudden death for control of the House of Representatives. If real Republicans take control, there is some real hope of slowing down the destruction of our economy.

This is a serious crisis, and the elected so-called leaders are not listening. I believe the voters are listening. They will remember in November.

Many of the wonderful-sounding ideas that have been tried as government policies have failed disastrously. Because so few people bother to study history, often the same ideas and policies have been tried again, either in another country or in the same country at a later time — and with the same disastrous results.

One of the ideas that has proved to be almost impervious to evidence is the idea that wise and far-sighted people need to take control and plan economic and social policies so there will be a rational and just order, rather than chaos resulting from things being allowed to take their own course.

It sounds so logical and plausible that demanding hard evidence would seem almost like nit-picking.

In one form or another, this idea goes back at least as far as the French Revolution in the 18th century. As J.A. Schumpeter later wrote of that era, “general well-being ought to have been the consequence,” but “instead we find misery, shame and, at the end of it all, a stream of blood.”

The same could be said of the Bolshevik Revolution and other revolutions of the 20th century.

The idea that the wise and knowledgeable few need to take control of the less wise and less knowledgeable many has taken milder forms — and repeatedly with bad results as well.

With our current income tax, Social Security tax, Medicare tax, sales tax, extra taxes on tobacco and alcohol and firearm purchases, taxes on imported goods, extra taxes if you travel by boat or plane, extra taxes on fishing and archery supplies, extra taxes on certain vaccines, and extra taxes on many fuels, you now pay for someone you don’t know to get free condoms, you now pay for someone you don’t know to get free abortions, you now pay for someone you don’t know to get free medical care, you now pay for someone you don’t know to get a free home, you now pay for someone you don’t know to get free food, you now pay for someone you don’t know to get free water and electricity and phone service, and many more great gifts to you as a taxpayer.

But in November will you dare to discover which candidates will work for real tax reform and support them, or will you just sit at home, watching the new episode of “Glee”, while all those that are getting free condoms and free abortions and free medical care and free homes and free food and free water and electricity and phone service will happily vote more politicians into office that will continue to take money out of your wallet and give to these people?

The median duration of unemployment is higher today than any time in the last 50 years. That’s an understatement. It is more than twice as high today than any time in the last 50 years.

There are many economic analyses that show if you pay people not to work, more people will remain out of work and unemployed. True, there are many Americans (sadly) that prefer to make it via the incomes of those that actually get off their butts and work. And the more unemployment benefits the government pays out then more people will avail themselves of a free paycheck.

I tend to believe the recently unemployed aren’t working because there are no job openings, not because they’re satisfied with unemployment. The US economy is in shambles. There was a recent job fair near my home. The company wanted to hire around 100 people for entry-level warehouse and production line work. 10,000 people showed up. That tells me that there are no jobs out there.

Since the Great Depression, no recession has lasted longer than 13 months. But with Obama‘s “Really New Deal” we are over 18 months with no end in sight. Doesn’t that say something?

Politics has no business centrally planning or managing the economy. It doesn’t work, it has never worked, regardless of the motivation. This is why Obama and the Liberal Congress will fail, because they believe government intervention to be The Answer to just about any problem.

People seem to forget that government has no money. Before it can spend money on unemployment or anything, it must first take it out of the economy. Government is a net negative. The more government spends the worse the economy becomes. Only the private sector can create jobs. But the Obama Administration is busy trying to destroy the very thing that funds the government; private enterprise, and individuals who are working.

The problem with programs like these are that you take money from the Productive Sector and transfer it to the Nonproductive Sector. The economy then stagnates … which is exactly what we have in the US today. Once Roosevelt died the US economy quickly recovered. Once Obama is out of office (or at least the Democrats’ control of government is broken and anti-business measures removed) you will see the economy rebound.

They have passed the health bill, they have passed the financial regulations bill and they have snuck stuff into the stimulus package bills. They are going to track your money and your body. Here’s the first few things they are doing. This is step one. It will only get worse from here.

“…the Health Care Bill mandates, according to Numismaster.com, Starting on January 1st in 2012, S federal law will require coin and bullion dealers to report to the Internal Revenue Service all gold and silver coin purchases and sales greater than $600.”

So hidden within ObamaCare, the legislation that no one read before signing, had hidden within it a new law saying that anyone who buys or sells more than $600 worth of gold or silver has to report the transaction to the federal government.

Why would the government have a reason to know, and record, such information?

Why was this snuck into health care legislation?

Anyone remember Executive Order 6102 signed on April 5, 1933 by U.S. President Franklin D. Roosevelt “forbidding the Hoarding of Gold Coin, Gold Bullion, and Gold Certificates” by U.S. citizens? Wake up, this is what has happened in the past and it looks like it’s happening again. The federal government does not want you to have any wealth (or security) in precious metals, only the almighty Federal Reserve Note, that way when the country goes bankrupt so will you. Or, in other words, you now become completely financially dependent on the US government.
