It’s easy to watch the hot story of any particular moment of whichever tragedy has captured the media’s spotlight and be misguided into out of proportion emotional responses.

You can never legislate your way to complete safety in a society without completely losing freedom and liberty. I value liberty more highly than safety. However, there is a proper place for wise and prudent legislation to reduce un-necessary deaths as long as it fits within our Constitutional model of limited government. Knowing the current numbers simply helps you put your efforts towards improving public safety where they are logically most needed.

But before anyone can legally purchase a firearm you must fill out and sign a sworn document called the ATF Form 4473. Then you have to show a picture ID, and the gun dealer calls the National Instant Criminal System (NICS) to see if you’re a bad guy.

Now let’s look at Question 11e on ATF Form 4473: “Are you an unlawful user of, or addicted to, marijuana or any depressant, stimulant, or narcotic drug, or any other controlled substance? [Yes/No]“. Loughner was described as a “pothead” and was rejected by the US Army because of his admitted marijuana addiction. If he answered “Yes” the store wouldn’t have sold the firearm. So Loughner had to answer “No” … which means he committed a felony, and a felon cannot purchase a firearm.

What I’m getting at is that (1) there are laws already in place to stop Tuscon-like shootings, (2) criminals do not obey laws no matter what the law says or threatens, (3) any new law would not have stopped Loughner in any meaningful way.

Exactly what would have been the outcome if Congress had passed a bushel basket of gun restrictions last year? Probably very little difference. Therefore what real benefit would any number of new gun laws have?

25) Liberals seem to have hit upon a reverse Christ story as their belief system. He suffered and died for our sins; liberals make the rest of us suffer for sins we didn’t commit. Their claims of how awful ‘we’ are never seems to encompass themselves in the ‘we.’ Saying America is a racist nation is never meant to suggest that the speaker is a racist — it’s his neighbors who are the racists.

20) Americans cannot comprehend how their fellow countrymen could not love their country. But the left’s anti-Americanism is intrinsic to their entire worldview. Liberals promote the right of Islamic fanatics for the same reason they promote the rights of adulterers, pornographers, abortionists, criminals, and Communists. They instinctively root for anarchy against civilization.

10) With their infernal racial set-asides, racial quotas, and race norming, liberals share many of the Klan’s premises. The Klan sees the world in terms of race and ethnicity. So do liberals! Indeed, liberals and white supremacists are the only people left in America who are neurotically obsessed with race. Conservatives champion a color-blind society.

The object of the game is to kill the zombies before they eat your brains, zombies of any color and nationality. If you shoot a black zombie in a video game you’re now branded as a racist, but killing white zombies is OK? Is killing an Asian zombie only acceptable if the player doing so is not white?

Summary: What’s really sad here is that, once again, you will read genuine criticism of Obama from the FOREIGN media as there is no media outlet in the US that will dare make the statement that The King Has No Clothes.

The First Lady’s ill-conceived trip to Marbella and the complete disregard for public opinion and concerns over excessive government spending is symbolic of a far wider problem with the Obama presidency – the overarching disdain for the principles of limited government, individual liberty and free enterprise that have built the United States over the course of nearly two and a half centuries into the most powerful and free nation on earth.

It is epitomised above all by the President’s relentless drive towards big government against the will of the American people, and the dramatic increases in government spending and borrowing, which threaten to leave the US hugely in debt for generations. It is also showcased by Barack Obama’s drive towards a socialised health care system, which, as I’ve noted before, is “a thinly disguised vanity project for a president who is committed to transforming the United States from the world’s most successful large-scale free enterprise economy, to a highly interventionist society with a massive role for centralized government.”

There is however a political revolution fast approaching Washington that is driven not by mob rule but by the power of ideas and principles, based upon the ideals of the Founding Fathers and the US Constitution. It is a distinctly conservative revolution that is sweeping America and is reflected in almost every poll ahead of this November’s mid-terms. It is based on a belief in individual liberty, limited government, and above all, political accountability from the ruling elites. The Obama administration’s mantra may well be “let them eat cake”, as it continues to gorge itself on taxpayers’ money, but it will be looking nervously over its shoulder as public unease mounts.

It is sad that this had to come from the British media, as the US liberal media continue to remain silent about anything critical of “their” President.

Nonetheless, the Supreme Court’s Second Amendment decisions have made a major difference. In particular, they have offset the gun-control community’s longstanding effort to “denormalize” firearms ownership — to portray it as something threatening, deviant, and vaguely perverse, and hence demanding strict regulation, if not outright prohibition. That effort went on for decades, and received much media support. Two decades ago, it seemed to be working.

But with the Supreme Court saying that it’s clear the Framers regarded individual gun ownership as “necessary to our system of ordered liberty,” that effort must be seen as a failure now. Gun ownership by law-abiding citizens is the new normal, and the Second Amendment is now normal constitutional law. It will stay so, as long as enough Americans care to keep it that way.

The National Rifle Association believes that any restrictions on the political speech of Americans are unconstitutional.

In the past, through the courts and in Congress, the NRA has opposed any effort to restrict the rights of its four million members to speak and have their voices heard on behalf of gun owners nationwide.

Says me:

But since the NRA was able to bully some weak Democrats into bending H.R. 5175, the DISCLOSE Act, into allowing the NRA to do business as usual while ensuring smaller organizations groups cannot rally their members in the upcoming elections by placing erroneous report in mandates on them and by forcing them to disclose their membership rosters and donor lists.

So, basically, the NRA should have said, “The National Rifle Association believes that any restrictions on the political speech of the NRA are unconstitutional, while any such restrictions on smaller groups are perfectly fine.”

This is ONE MORE reason I am a gun owner and I do not support the NRA.

Let me get this straight. A terrorist bought a car off of Craigslist, fireworks in Pennsylvania, and inflammable fertilizer, parked his dud-car-bomb in Times Square, got onto an international flight, and was only caught at the last minute as the plane was taxing to the runway. When political scientists compare populism and elitism, they could certainly find a test case in the new Arizona law on immigration enforcement. While Rasmussen found 70 percent of Arizonans favored the crackdown on illegal aliens, and new national media polls found majority support as well, ABC, CBS, and NBC denounced the popular will as short-sighted and discriminatory.
