The population continues to shift from Democratic-leaning Rust Belt states to Republican-leaning Sun Belt states, a trend the Census Bureau will detail in its once-a-decade report to the president. Political clout shifts, too, because the nation must reapportion the 435 House districts to make them roughly equal in population, based on the latest census figures.

November’s elections put Republicans in control of dozens of state legislatures and governorships, just as states prepare to redraw their congressional and legislative district maps. It’s often a brutally partisan process, and Republicans’ control in those states will enable them to create new districts to their liking.

The combination of population shifts and the recent election results could make Obama’s re-election campaign more difficult. Each House seat represents an electoral vote in the presidential election process, giving more weight to states Obama probably will lose in 2012. The states he carried in 2008 are projected to lose, on balance, six electoral votes to states that his GOP challenger, Sen. John McCain of Arizona, won. That sets a higher bar for Obama before his re-election campaign even starts.

“The way the maps have shifted have made Obama’s route to success much more difficult,” said Republican Party spokesman Doug Heye. He said the GOP takeover of several state governments on the eve of redistricting efforts was “a dramatic shift.”

I’m still awaiting word that, due to a virus that escaped a government lab, all Progressives have morphed into zombies and We The People are having a great time expending round after round of ammunition.

Like me, Bruce “started blogging as a therapeutic means of venting my frustration at local (and national) politicians and their penchant for taxpayer-funded malfeasance, after having experienced first-hand the level of disdain for individual liberty (not to mention, common decency) held by many in elected positions of power.”

Bruce left his home in Massachusetts and went across the border to New Hampshire, a state known to respect individual freedom much more than Massachusetts. But simply moving was not enough for Bruce, because in 2010 he declared his candidacy for State Representative in Rockingham District 10.

Last night my (former) fellow blogger won with 56% of the vote. Bruce MacMahon is now the new State Representative for Rockingham District 10. And I could not be happier.

Just one piece of advice: Bruce, don’t forget all the sleepless nights blogging about some fool in government passing laws that restrict personal freedom and individual liberty. The temptation and compromises and gridlock will vex your soul. Continue to stay strong, keep the faith, do us proud … in many ways you already have.

But will he REALLY attend a state house meeting while wearing his kilt?

So here I sit the day after a historic election.

I should be happy. Republicans made historic gains in Congress Tuesday. The voters elected rookie Republicans over Democratic incumbents all across the nation. There was a huge repudiation of Washington, a repudiation of big government, and a repudiation of politicians who refuse to listen to the American people. The Tea Party and Libertarians can celebrate big wins.

I should be happy. But I’m not.

US District incumbent Hank Johnson (D-4) beat his challenger 3 to 1. He did this without ever attending a single debate. He did this while voting 98% with the Democratic Party line, a behavior soundly trampled everywhere else in the nation.

State Senate incumbent candidate Ronald Ramsey (D-42) beat this challenger 4 to 1. He did this without ever attending a single debate. He did this while voting nearly exactly with the Democratic Party line, a behavior soundly trampled everywhere else in the state.

County Commission candidate Courtney Dillard received 48% of the vote and lost by only 1200 votes. He did this while being the candidate that was charged with Simple Battery for hitting a teenager he was supposed to be coaching. He did this while being the candidate that was taken to court numerous times for failing to pay Child Support to the love-child he created with his mistress. He did this while being the candidate that was arrested for trying to Buy Drugs in a seedy part of town. He did this while being the candidate that was sent to jail for Contempt of Court. He did this while being the candidate that was charged with Destruction of Private Property, Disturbing Peace, and Assault. He did this while being the candidate that was given a citation for Driving on a Suspended License and not keeping his infant in a car seat.

How is it possible that these candidates got so many votes? How is it that where I live is so much different from the rest of the nation? There can only be one answer.

Forget the Democratic or Republican parties. In my town there is a never-discussed political party, one that doesn’t doesn’t hold conventions. It’s called the Black Party, and it is powerful. It is a political force that will keep people of one race in power, regardless of the quality of their character or their voting record. It is identical to the political landscape of 50 years ago when whites were the only people that could hold political office. Racism was once thought of as “bad”, but once the roles are reversed it is considered “good”.

In yesterday’s elections the only local headline should be: “Blacks Keep/Take Office From Whites”.

Across this country Barack Obama is polling less than a 50% approval rating on each and every demographic (young, old, rich, poor, urban, rural) except one … he’s still receiving 90% approval among Blacks. Blacks, as a group, will never withhold support for another Black regardless of their history or what they stand for or how they vote.

The history of the candidate is irrelevant. The voting record, criminal record, and philosophical beliefs of the candidate is irrelevant. The “end all” of a candidate is the color of their skin. Racism is still very much alive and well in 2010 in Georgia.

I’m not a big fan of Deal, but I have absolutely no love for Barnes. So to keep Barnes out of office I have to vote for Deal.

Lesser of two evils. Hopefully Deal will show me something that will create more support from me.

We had a ton of folks that voted their conscience and voted 3rd party in 2008, which, at the end of the day, did little more that help Obama get elected. I didn’t like McCain either, I voted for Palin and her running mate. But from a pure numbers viewpoint (and an election is a numbers game) you might as well vote for Mickey Mouse, and don’t fool yourself into thinking you’re “making a statement” … can anyone name any relevant “statements” made in 2008 that are of any consequence today? After all, Obama-Reid-Pelosi are still running this nation even after millions of “statements” were made in 2008. Looking back at 2008 I can’t help but think there could have been much better “statements” made.

There is a time to be tactical (primaries) and a time to be strategic (general election). 43% of the Republican voters won’t see their favorite candidate in the runoff, and in the general election 72% of the primary voters will have to decide on someone other than the person they voted for in the primaries. Heck, the guy I thought would be best for Georgia ain’t even in the runoff. But I’ve got to discover which of Handel and Deal are better, because I think Barnes would worse than either of them.

I ain’t no Republican. But I’m no Liberal Progressive either, and any action by me that would in any way help the Liberal Progressive candidate is a bad action.

The National Rifle Association believes that any restrictions on the political speech of Americans are unconstitutional.

In the past, through the courts and in Congress, the NRA has opposed any effort to restrict the rights of its four million members to speak and have their voices heard on behalf of gun owners nationwide.

Says me:

But since the NRA was able to bully some weak Democrats into bending H.R. 5175, the DISCLOSE Act, into allowing the NRA to do business as usual while ensuring smaller organizations groups cannot rally their members in the upcoming elections by placing erroneous report in mandates on them and by forcing them to disclose their membership rosters and donor lists.

So, basically, the NRA should have said, “The National Rifle Association believes that any restrictions on the political speech of the NRA are unconstitutional, while any such restrictions on smaller groups are perfectly fine.”

This is ONE MORE reason I am a gun owner and I do not support the NRA.

A growing wave of discontent with government came crashing down on “establishment” candidates running in primary elections Tuesday as voters turned five-term Pennsylvania Sen. Arlen Specter out of office and nominated a populist “Tea Party” candidate in Kentucky.

Few races represented the political backlash sweeping across the country better than Pennsylvania’s Democratic Senate primary, in which Specter was defeated by Rep. Joe Sestak. Specter, who switched to the Democratic Party in 2009, vowed to support Sestak over Republican Pat Toomey in the fall.

Primaries in Pennsylvania, Arkansas and Kentucky were the latest sign of the nation’s political mood, as high unemployment and President Obama‘s ambitious agenda allowed a new crop of candidates to claim the mantle of change.

“We’ve come to take our government back,” said Kentucky Republican Rand Paul, who courted the anti-tax “Tea Party” movement to defeat Secretary of State Trey Grayson in the GOP Senate primary. “We want things done differently.”

2. Just because you are a Republican, or you’ve made some claims that you’re a Conservative, has no bearing that We The People actually trust you. Your voting record and broken promises speak for you.

New Disease Discovered and Classified: ‘Gonorrhea Lectim’

The Center for Disease Control has issued a warning about a new virulent strain of this old disease. The disease is called Gonorrhea Lectim (pronounced “Gonna re-elect ‘em”).

The disease is contracted through dangerous and high risk behavior involving putting your cranium up your rectum. Many victims contracted it in 2008 … but now most people after having been infected for the past 1-2 years are starting to realize how destructive this sickness is.

It’s curable with a new procedure just coming on the market called Vo-tem-out! You take the first dose/step in 2010 and the second dosage in 2012 and simply don’t engage in such behavior again, otherwise it could become permanent and eventually wipe out all life as we know it.

Several states are already on top of this like Virginia and New Jersey, and apparently now Massachusetts with many more seeing the writing on the wall.
