When President Obama took office in January 2009, the national debt was $9.5 trillion, which is nearly $32,000 for every man, woman and child living in this country. The national debt as of this writing is nearly $14 trillion, which is $45,000 for every man, woman and child living in this country. That’s a historic increase in a historic short period of time!

The 2010 congressional elections are sudden death for control of the House of Representatives. If real Republicans take control, there is some real hope of slowing down the destruction of our economy.

This is a serious crisis, and the elected so-called leaders are not listening. I believe the voters are listening. They will remember in November.

U.S. Chamber of Commerce President Tom Donohue warned the U.S. faces a double-dip recession because of the taxes and regulations under consideration by the Democratic Congress and President Barack Obama.

“Congress, the administration and states must recognize that our weak economy simply could not sustain all the new taxes, regulations and mandates now under consideration. It’s a sure-fire recipe for a double-dip recession, or worse,” Donohue said in a speech providing the Chamber’s outlook for 2010.

“We are talking about a massive tax increase in a very weak economy — a tax increase whose clearly intended purpose is not to reduce the deficit, but to pay for more spending,” he said.

He also promised the Chamber would be more involved in the 2010 midterm election than it has been in any other before, and will hold accountable lawmakers who vote against the group’s priorities.

Good work, Mr. Donohue, but it would be far more effective if the VOTERS hold accountable lawmakers who vote against the voter’s priorities instead of spending all their time worrying about who just got voted out on American Idol.

Ten months into President Obama‘s first economic stimulus plan, a surge in spending on roads and bridges has had no effect on local unemployment and only barely helped the beleaguered construction industry, an Associated Press analysis has found.

Spend a lot or spend nothing at all, it didn’t matter, the AP analysis showed: Local unemployment rates rose and fell regardless of how much stimulus money Washington poured out for transportation, raising questions about Obama’s argument that more road money would address an “urgent need to accelerate job growth.”

AP’s analysis, which was reviewed by independent economists at five universities, showed that strategy hasn’t affected unemployment rates so far. And there’s concern it won’t work the second time.

All those tax dollars, that $797 billion that Obama and Congress took from honest taxpayers by force and distributed to their friends and lackeys, did absolutely nothing for either the economy or jobs. It did nothing, except make honest taxpayers more poor.

But did you see the line, “And there’s concern it won’t work the second time,”? You see, the House approved a $75 billion second stimulus bill 217-212 last month after House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., worked the floor for an hour; the Senate is expected to consider it later in January.

Yep, more of YOUR money being taken from you by force … money you could have used to pay doctor bills or groceries or the heating bill … and is going to waste it just like they did before, with no positive result.

That $20 bill isn’t worth the same value as it did last year.

Now couple that fact with the fact that US workers are not bringing home nearly as many $20 bills this year as they did last year (due to unemployment), then the value of each US worker income is far less today that it was last year. The disposable income for the average American it has actually fallen badly. There has recently been a $12 trillion drop in household net worth.

So if US workers don’t have as much money as they recently did, and since what few dollars they have are worth less than they recently were, then where is the federal government getting all this money to spend on all their programs? If income is down where is the money coming from? The current bailouts and government spending is coming at the cost of a weaker and flailing dollar – we are all being paid in a weaker currency.

By the end of 2009 we will probably have an average of close to 6,000 bankruptcy filings a day for 2009. And I’m not talking about those “evil” corporations either; 98.5% of all bankruptcy filings come from individuals in the middle of financial distress.

Over 35,800,000 people are currently receiving food stamps in the US. 11% of our entire population is receiving government assistance in order to buy food. Oh sure, some are simply playing a game to get others to pay for their stuff, but most simply can no longer afford to feed their families. And don’t think this government program is free – it costs the government between $40-50 billion to buy other folks groceries. And guess where that $40-50 billion comes from? Yep, the under-nourished wallets of US workers and taxpayers, those poor souls who have $20 bills that are no longer worth $20.

The Misery Index, created by economist Arthur Okun, is obtained by adding the unemployment rate to the inflation rate. Both, under Obama, are increasing out of control. The unemployment rate surged to 10.2%, reaching double digits for the first time in 26 years. Obama’s stimulus package has failed to accomplish a single positive goal, but it has raised unemployment, ballooned the deficit, driven up interest rates, and is dead certain to trigger Carter-style hyperinflation. This is the Hope And Change you wanted so badly last year, right?

The government will never be allowed to go without money or buying power, but it does so on the backs of those that actually work and produce. How does the government continue to take money out of your wallet, even during times when US workers are starving for money? From Ken and Daria Dolan:

• Next time you fork over big bucks at the gas pump, remember that you are paying nearly 46 cents per gallon in federal, state and local taxes. That’s nearly 15% of the cost of a gallon of gas!
• Forget about your income tax withholding. When is the last time you looked – really looked – at all the other taxes coming out of each and every one of your paychecks? You’ve got your Social Security tax, your Medicare tax, your unemployment tax, your workers compensation… It all adds up to a serious percentage of your money going into someone else’s pockets.

Labor unions and some Democrats have called for more spending to create jobs. But where will the government get all the money for this additional spending? Yep, by raiding your wallet and increasing the federal budget deficits. So why don’t the labor unions and the Democrats simply say, “We need to take more money out of worker’s wallets and we need to increase the deficit“? At least that would be honest of them.

Is it beginning to seem like (1) individual US workers and taxpayers are expendable, while (2) the US government must be protected at all costs?

Don’t believe what the government is telling you about any supposed “recovery”. From FOX News:

The Democratic chairman of the House Appropriations Committee is demanding greater accountability from the the Obama administration after gross inaccuracies were found on a government Web site that tracks jobs purportedly saved or created by the $787 billion stimulus plan.

In a statement late Monday, Rep. David Obey of Wisconsin, chairman of the House committee, called the inaccuracies “outrageous” and said the administration owes the American public “a commitment to work night and day to correct the ludicrous mistakes.”

“Credibility counts in government and stupid mistakes like this undermine it,” Obey said. “We designed the Recovery Act to be open and transparent and I expect the the Recovery Accountability and Transparency Board, who oversees the recovery act Web site and data to have information that is accurate, reliable and understandable to the American public.”

The site — Recovery.gov — is under fire for posting a number of jobs created in congressional districts that don’t exist and for accepting unrealistic data from several reporting outlets.

Or, to put it another way, the government is flat-out lying to you to get you to believe that some recovery is actually going on. The truth is that more and more misery is right before us, thanks to a government that enjoys holding your money while you starve.

Folks must act now to protect their financial well-being. Hyperinflation is murder on the markets, and merciless to your savings. It erodes your buying power on a daily basis. Wealth it took years to build bleeds away before your eyes. Now is not the time to depend on the government, either their programs or their promises. Now is the time to get brutally independent and self-reliant.

For the first time since he took over in the White House, Americans don’t see eye to eye with President Barack Obama on the important issues, according to a new national poll.

According to the poll, which was released Tuesday, 48 percent of people questioned say that they agree with Obama on the issues that matter most to them, with 51 percent saying no.

Most Americans, 56 percent, don’t approve of the Norwegian Nobel Committee’s decision to award the Nobel Peace Prize to Barack Obama, and only a third believe that Obama has done enough to deserve the prize.

“Obama is facing crunch time on a number of controversial issues, from health care to financial regulation to cap and trade to Afghanistan,” says CNN Polling Director Keating Holland.

And why is this? Says Pat Buchanan:

The alienation and radicalization of white America began long before Obama arrived. He acknowledged as much when he explained Middle Pennsylvanians to puzzled progressives in that closed-door meeting in San Francisco.

Referring to the white working-class voters in the industrial towns decimated by job losses, Obama said: “They get bitter, they cling to guns or religion or antipathy to people who aren’t like them or anti-immigrant sentiment or anti-trade sentiment as a way to explain their frustrations.”

In their lifetimes, they have seen their Christian faith purged from schools their taxes paid for, and mocked in movies and on TV. They have seen their factories shuttered in the thousands and their jobs outsourced in the millions to Mexico and China. They have seen trillions of tax dollars go for Great Society programs, but have seen no Great Society, only rising crime, illegitimacy, drug use and dropout rates.

They watch on cable TV as illegal aliens walk into their country, are rewarded with free educations and health care and take jobs at lower pay than American families can live on – then carry Mexican flags in American cities and demand U.S. citizenship.

They see Wall Street banks bailed out as they sweat their next paycheck, then read that bank profits are soaring, and the big bonuses for the brilliant bankers are back. Neither they nor their kids ever benefited from affirmative action, unlike Barack and Michelle Obama.

They see a government in Washington that cannot balance its books, win our wars or protect our borders. The government shovels out trillions to Fortune 500 corporations and banks to rescue the country from a crisis created by the government and Fortune 500 corporations and banks.

America was once their country. They sense they are losing it. And they are right.

GRIFFIN, Ga. (MyFOX ATLANTA) – A former bank manager said Thursday that a life or death decision got him fired. The manager said he pulled a gun on a bank robber and fired shots at him, forcing the robber to flee. Police credited the manager’s actions to the arrest of the suspect William Hunt.

Wesley Hallman said it was common knowledge that he carried a pistol. The former manger said he felt safer with the gun when he opened the bank.

Hallman said when he saw a would-be robber holding a gun in an employee’s face, he challenged the man with his gun.

The robber turned, so Hallman said he fired a shot. The robber fired a shot, ran and then fired two more shots

Hallman said he was called into the bank the next day and fired. Hallman said there is a bank policy that employees can’t carry weapons. The former branch manager said he knew violated company policy but he didn’t violate the law.

The bank is the First National Bank of Griffin. I suggest all of you take your money out of that unsafe place.

We were told the stimulus package would prevent unemployment from hitting eight percent. It didn’t.

We were told our newly-elected president would put an end to wasteful pork-barrel spending. He hasn’t.

We were told we would not see an increase in “any” of our taxes from this new administration. We did.

We were told there would be no more lobbyists working in the President’s inner circle. There are.

We were told that January 2009 would mark the end to partisan “politics as usual”. It didn’t.

On what basis should we take these people at their word when they try to tell us all the wonderful things that will happen once the government takes over the country’s health care industry?

Albany [New York] Common Council members say they’ll figure out a plan to make sure non-unionized city employees get raises. Mayor Jerry Jennings has proposed eliminating raises and several other cuts in his 2009 budget proposal which calls for less spending with a property tax increase of nearly five percent.

Councilman Glen Casey said he proposes giving non-unionized employees who make more than $55,000 a year take 10 days of mandatory unpaid time off. Casey said he would then use the savings to give raises to those who make under $40,000 a year.

Just damn.

The net effect is that Councilman Glen Casey is wanting to reduce the yearly income for those making over $55k a year and use that money to raise the yearly income of those making under $40k a year. Basically, making everyone take home the same amount of pay, regardless of work performed.

And all the millions of Obamatons around the world are cheering loudly at this “progressive” idea.

Socialism strives for the complete equality of all incomes, and therefore, everything. As income approaches complete equality, productivity disappears. For example: people work so they can make money to support themselves. They work driven by the incentive of making more money and succeeding. In Capitalist systems, he who chooses not to work suffers the consequences while he who works receives the incentives, money, which he is working for. Human nature includes a desire to “do better” and, therefore, make more money or advance in a job. In an attempt to make more money, people are driven naturally work harder and longer, seek further education for themselves, and develop skills which distinguish them as rare talents among that labor which is available as supply. Under true Socialism, income is completely equal. When there is nothing to achieve by working harder or longer, people begin to become idle. People begin to work less or not work at all because there is no longer the incentive of making more money or advancing in job. When there are no workers, production drops to nothing. It will then be true that all incomes are equal but this equal income will be zero.

France recently was home for what was considered to be the last big communist party in Europe. But in 2000 France’s Communist Party scheduled a party vote on a document condemning the history of communism, concluding that communism “did not liberate humanity”, but rather led to the “oppression of the individual, a tendency to see different opinions as deviation or betrayal, and practices which in all too many cases bordered on the criminal”. One member of the party hierarchy in Paris said “It’s time to move on and leave all those old ideas behind. They didn’t do us any good.”

Socialism, by its very nature, is an inherently tyrannical ideology that uses force or the threat of force to take from those who produce and redistribute to those who don’t (after the ruling elites take their cut). Under Socialism all power rests in the hands of the almighty State, quite the opposite of the concept of rugged individualism that gave birth to America.

Barack Obama’s Plan Continues The Push Toward Government-Run Healthcare: The Obama plan will create a brand new government-run health plan at the cost of $243 billion a year – a financial burden of more than $3,000 a year on American families.

Barack Obama’s Plan Will Harm Employer Coverage: The Obama plan includes a $179 billion a year employer mandate. The mandate requires employers to either provide “meaningful” coverage or pay a tax towards the government plan. Faced with tough economic conditions and rising health costs this creates a clear incentive for employers to drop coverage and move families into the new government plan. A Lewin Group study which examined a similar employer mandate combined with a national plan, like the Obama plan, concluded that almost 52 million individuals would lose their pri vate employer coverage. To maintain their competitive edge, others employers will follow – spelling the demise of the employer coverage system.

Barack Obama’s Plan Will Damage Private Coverage: The government-run plan will have a clear advantage over private insurance since it will be subsidized by American taxpayers. A recent analysis of both plans by the nonpartisan CATO Institute concluded that the Obama government-run plan will be able to “keep its premiums artificially low… since it can turn to the U.S. Treasury to cover any shortfalls” resulting in “undercutting the private market.” According to Wall Street Journal, the goal of the Obama plan “…like HillaryCare in the 1990s, is to displace current private coverage and switch people to the default government option.”
