The National Rifle Association believes that any restrictions on the political speech of Americans are unconstitutional.

In the past, through the courts and in Congress, the NRA has opposed any effort to restrict the rights of its four million members to speak and have their voices heard on behalf of gun owners nationwide.

But since the NRA was able to bully some weak Democrats into bending H.R. 5175, the DISCLOSE Act, into allowing the NRA to do business as usual while ensuring smaller organizations groups cannot rally their members in the upcoming elections by placing erroneous report in mandates on them and by forcing them to disclose their membership rosters and donor lists.

So, basically, the NRA should have said, “The National Rifle Association believes that any restrictions on the political speech of the NRA are unconstitutional, while any such restrictions on smaller groups are perfectly fine.”

This is ONE MORE reason I am a gun owner and I do not support the NRA.

All told, (U.K. scientist and Green Party activist William) Connolley created or rewrote 5,428 unique Wikipedia articles. His control over Wikipedia was greater still, however, through the role he obtained at Wikipedia as a website administrator, which allowed him to act with virtual impunity. When Connolley didn’t like the subject of a certain article, he removed it — more than 500 articles of various descriptions disappeared at his hand. When he disapproved of the arguments that others were making, he often had them barred — over 2,000 Wikipedia contributors who ran afoul of him found themselves blocked from making further contributions. Acolytes whose writing conformed to Connolley’s global warming views, in contrast, were rewarded with Wikipedia’s blessings. In these ways, Connolley turned Wikipedia into the missionary wing of the global warming movement.

The Medieval Warm Period disappeared, as did criticism of the global warming orthodoxy. With the release of the Climategate Emails, the disappearing trick has been exposed. The glorious Medieval Warm Period will remain in the history books, perhaps with an asterisk to describe how a band of zealots once tried to make it disappear.

How many high school and college assignments were written based on what the students read (and copied) from Wikipedia? How many otherwise intelligent people have had their opinions swayed based on what they discovered at Wikipedia?

Sure, Connolley is no longer a Wikipedia administrator. He was de-sysoped for an unrelated topic, cold fusion, not for anything to do with the global warming issue. Yet for the last dozen years it was HIS opinions that were “translated” into fact at Wikipedia.

What type of person erases facts in order to allow his disillusioned beliefs to become the “new facts”? Sounds like some of the Holocaust deniers.

What type of encyclopedia can Wikipedia claim to be? How many more of these situations have we simply not discovered yet? Is there anyone out there that still believes in Wikipedia?

ABC didn’t cover it. CBS didn’t either. And NBC apparently wouldn’t go near it.

The network news broadcasts have ignored a growing scandal over evidence of a potential climate cover-up — and now they’ve even been scooped by the fake news at Comedy Central.

“The Daily Show with Jon Stewart” produced its “reporting” on Climate-gate Tuesday night, when Stewart quipped, “Poor Al Gore. Global warming completely debunked via the very Internet you invented. Oh, oh, the irony!”

Stewart described leaked e-mails from Britain’s University of East Anglia, including one referring to a researcher’s “trick” to “hide the decline” in some temperature readings in recent decades.

“It’s just scientist-speak for using a standard statistical technique — recalibrating data – in order to trick you,” Stewart said sarcastically.

Nearly two weeks since news broke of the e-mail scandal, climate change skeptics have gloated; a leading climate scientist has resigned; at least one U.S. lawmaker has called for an investigation, and countless prominent news outlets have deemed the story worthy of major reporting.

Still, according to a report Wednesday morning by the conservative Media Research Center, “none of the broadcast network weekday morning and evening news shows addressed Climate-Gate or the incriminating Jones development. … This marked 12 days since the information was first uncovered that they have ignored this global scandal.”

The US media outlets, constantly possessing a left-leaning agenda on both What and How they broadcast their version of the news, have said nothing about ClimateGate, a slap in the face to Liberals who have told us over and over that man-made global warming is going to destroy the planet.

The Business & Media Institute had just as much trouble finding the networks’ Climate-gate coverage.

“An examination of morning and evening news programs on ABC, CBS and NBC since Nov. 20 yielded zero mentions of the scandal, even in the Nov. 25 reports about Obama going to Copenhagen to discuss the need for emissions reductions,” the Institute reported Wednesday.

But during that time, the Institute says, “the networks reported on pro-golfer Tiger Woods’ ‘minor’ car accident at least 37 times. They also found time to report on an orphaned Moose and the meal selection at the president’s State Dinner.”

Media Research Center President Brent Bozell reacted to the findings saying, “To pretend this story simply doesn’t exist is damning to journalism.”

True, but Mr. Bozell is grossly incorrect in assuming that the major network news outlets in the US are even attempting anything resembling journalism, that the major network news outlets in the US have ever attempted to hire genuine journalists. What the major network news outlets are doing has absolutely nothing to do with providing news to the citizens of the US, but rather to indoctrinate the masses into their narrow political belief system.

And these are the same media outlets that are considering pressuring Congress to give them taxpayer money to financially bail them out of trouble?

Highlights on the agenda:

ABCNEWS anchor Charlie Gibson will deliver WORLD NEWS from the Blue Room of the White House.

The network plans a primetime special — ‘Prescription for America’ — originating from the East Room, exclude opposing voices on the debate.

The Director of Communications at the White House Office of Health Reform is Linda Douglass, who worked as a reporter for ABC News from 1998-2006.

ABCNEWS Senior Vice President Kerry Smith: “ABCNEWS alone will select those who will be in the audience asking questions of the president.”

So ABC is living in the White House, and will pick who asks questions of the President when he tried to sell us on the snake-oil ObamaCare plan.

A one-hour prime-time town-hall type discussion with the President on health care?

This cannot help but be nothing more than a “glorified infomercial” to promote a Democratic agenda. It won’t be long before there is an “Obama channel” for our viewing enjoyment. For now we have ABC: the All Barack Channel.

Since ego and spite became the dominant characteristics of the Oval Office, the Obama era is ready to launch “propaganda through state-run television.

The people in charge at ABC feel it is their duty to support political agendas instead of just fairly representing both sides of the issue. That would be too logical and not a good use of their “power base” that they have being in charge of such a powerful entity as broadcasting info to the citizens. They can control people by controlling the info.

This is what Saul Alynsky and others were talking about: Leveraging your power to maintain control. Once in control, you can do what you want and work to attain more power and more control.

But please remember: not even a pretend Messiah can divinely channel your remote and force you to become a fan of state-run television. Turn the damn channel, or turn the TV off.

When President Obama said last week that he wants a government-run, government-owned health insurance provision to be included in the health-care reform bill being readied by Congress, only one of the nation’s top five, large-circulation newspapers thought it was worthy of front-page coverage.

USA Today, which has the largest circulation in the nation, placed an AP-wire version of the story on page four. Called “Obama plan would provide health care for all,” the 724-word article said: “In providing the first real details on how he wants to reshape the nation’s health care system, the president urged Congress on Wednesday toward a sweeping overhaul that would allow Americans to buy into a government insurance plan.”

Page Four, and nothing more than a copy of an AP story, with little about government-run, government-owned health insurance.

The Wall Street Journal, the second most widely circulated U.S. paper, reported the story on page four in an article titled “Obama Shifts on Coverage Mandate.” The article, also published last Thursday, noted how Obama’s letter to the two senators contradicted the stance he took during his campaign against presidential candidate Hillary Clinton in 2008.

Page Four, a re-run story.

The most “buried” story was an 804-word piece, headlined “Obama Urges Quick Action By Senators On Insurance,” that ran on page 16 of The New York Times.

Page Sixteen. Sigh.

The Washington Post placed its 606-word story on page four of the A-section. The article, titled “A Move Toward Requiring Health Coverage; In Letter to Senate Democrats, Obama Suggests Hardship Waiver for the Poor,” described Obama’s “fresh willingness to consider taxing employer-sponsored health insurance” and “a new openness toward a nationwide requirement that every American have health coverage.”

And another Page Four. I can’t help but wonder what was so much more important to push this ground-breaking news item to Page Four. Did American Idol start a new season?

Fortunately people rely less and less on printed newspapers. This example is one of the many reasons these publications are becoming a dying breed…hiding news they may not like. They are nothing more than a propaganda machine pushing an agenda. They are failing in their mission to inform without bias.

Since these newspapers are “shaping” how we perceive the news, and not just “reporting” it, I wonder if we should exempt them from the Constitution’s First Amendment protection? Does anyone here use the newspapers as their primary news source?

Plenty of gun-ban speculation is flying. I have this quote direct from Sarah Brady in a letter addressed to me: “On Election Day, we helped deliver a strong victory for President-Elect Barack Obama and Vice-President-Elect Joe Biden. They will be two of the most powerful allies we have ever had.”

This is what Obama meant when he told you to your face that he respects the Second Amendment. He is the acknowledged champion of the anti-rights gun-ban movement.

1. Most of you already know that phony talk about “gun-show-loopholes” was a smokescreen. Sarah and her team now confirm this. They are planning for: “universal background checks for EVERY gun sold in this country.” (Her emphasis, not mine). Gun shows, she says, are now merely “included” in that plan, this will appear as proposed legislation shortly after inauguration day.
2. Campaign talk about making the phony “assault-weapons” ban permanent has morphed into “enact a stronger, comprehensive federal ban on military-style assault weapons.” They’re drafting it right now (Congress doesn’t draft these things, interest groups do and hand it to them on platters). The only thing that could be “stronger” than Clinton’s total ban on the sale of new products would be to go after existing firearms in civilian hands, which Clinton left alone. That would require contrabanding, outright confiscations or at a minimum, registration schemes. We’ll have to wait for the bill to drop to see what they plan.
3. Sarah Brady is asking Obama to “close the deadly holes in our current laws that allow terrorists to buy guns.” This is a solution in search of a problem, since terrorists already can’t legally buy guns. Brady president Paul Helmke talks instead of blocking “suspected terrorists.” That could mean anyone. It’s a back door way to vastly expand the NICS Index — the list of prohibited possessors that reportedly includes more than ten million Americans. Once you’re on, it can be next to impossible to get off, so making it larger serves the goal of the gun banners wonderfully. Many (but not all) currently in the NICS index are violent felons and other low-lifes who belong there.
4. Sarah (Brady, not Palin) included one bald deception in her message by saying “we achieved a major victory when the first federal gun law in over twelve years passed.” She refers to the NICS improvement act, for which both the Bradys and NRA took credit. It expands the NICS index by helping states add nut cases (the non-technical description) to the list (a rule Brady rightly applauds). It also lets falsely accused or no-longer-ineligible people get off the list, which you couldn’t do previously (a rule NRA rightly applauds). What hasn’t been passed “after eight long years of watching the gun lobby run loose in the halls of power” (her words) was a single federal law that directly improved the rights of gun owners in their normal every day lives. Not one. Authorities got armed and protected. Manufacturers got protected. Cured or falsely accused nut cases got a redress of grievances. Storm-disaster victims got something. But your routine human right to carry, right to defend yourself, right to travel armed, right to shop away from home, right to get a gun from your dad or brother in another state, right to get a tax break for going to the range, or for teaching your kids how to shoot safely — no laws like that passed through Congress in all those years.

• Major network news shows ran 69 stories about Sarah Palin between September 29 and October 12. 37 stories were negative, just 2 were positive, and 30 were neutral. Not a single evening news show ran a positive story about Palin.
• Overall, 21 network stories portrayed Palin as unintelligent and unqualified. 8 of these stories played a total of 11 clips of Saturday Night Live ridiculing Palin. 14 segments featured the most embarrassing clips from Palin’s interview with Katie Couric.
• 9 stories emphasized attacks on Palin by conservative columnists.
• 14 stories demonized Palin as little more than John McCain’s attack dog.
• ABC was hardest on Palin, with 9 negative stories (60%), 6 neutral (40%) and no positive stories. NBC ran 15 negative stories (54%), 13 neutral (46%) and no positive stories. CBS ran 14 negative stories (54%), 10 neutral (38%) and 2 positive (8%).

Conclusion:

Network coverage of Sarah Palin has been so distorted and out of balance that the public cannot trust what they’re hearing from ABC, NBC and CBS about the GOP vice-presidential nominee. The networks have been so intent on assassinating Palin’s character that they have turned for added ammunition to sources they normally ignore – conservative columnists and comedians.

Sarah Palin’s nomination changed the presidential race, creating a real threat to the media’s preferred candidate, Illinois Sen. Barack Obama. ABC, NBC and CBS have rallied to Obama’s defense by working hard to bring Palin down.

This is the change you can believe in from Obama’s Media.

The Dalai Lama, an individual said to be an incarnation of the Buddha of Compassion, had been both the political and spiritual leader of the country. The current Dalai Lama (the 14th) was only 24 years old when this all came to an end in 1959. The Communist Chinese invasion in 1950 led to years of turmoil, that culminated in the complete overthrow of the Tibetan Government and the self-imposed exile of the Dalai Lama and 100,000 Tibetans in 1959.

Since that time over a million Tibetans have been killed. With the Chinese policy of resettlement of Chinese to Tibet, Tibetans have become a minority in their own country. Chinese is the official language. Compared to pre-1959 levels, only 1/20 monks are still allowed to practice, under the government’s watch. Up to 6,000 monasteries and shrines have been destroyed. Famines have appeared for the first time in recorded history, natural resources are devastated, and wildlife depleted to extinction. Tibetan culture comes close to being eradicated there.

Peaceful demonstrations/protests/speech/writings by nuns, monks, and Tibetan laypeople have resulted in deaths and thousands of arrests. These political prisoners are tortured and held in sub-standard conditions, with little hope of justice.

• The peaceful buddhist country of Tibet was invaded by Communists China in 1949. Since that time, over 1.2 million out of 6 Tibetans have been killed, over 6000 monastaries have been destroyed, and thousands of TIbetans have been imprisoned.
• The Dalai Lama, Tibet’s political and spiritual leader, fled to India in 1959. He now lives among over 100,000 other Tibetan refugees and their government in exile.
• Within China itself, massive human rights abuses continue. It is estimated that there up to twenty million Chinese citizens working in prison camps.
• Most of the Tibetan plataeu lies above 14,000 feet. Tibet is the source of five of Asia’s greatest rivers, which over 2 billion people depend upon. Since 1959, the Chinese government estimates that they have removed over $54 billion worth of timber. Over 80% of their forests have been destroyed, and large amoutns nuclear and toxic waste have been disposed of in Tibet.
• Forced abortion, sterilization of Tibetan women and the transfer of low income Chinese citizens threaten the survival of Tibet’s unique culture. In some Tibetan provinces, Chinese settlers outnumber Tibetans 7 to 1.
• In Tibet today, there is no freedom of speech, religion, or press and arbitrary dissidents continue.

UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon has urged the Chinese authorities to exercise restraint in Tibet in the wake of disturbances in the region, according to the United Nations News Center. Speaking to reporters following a luncheon with members of the Security Council on March 17, 2008, the Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon that he is “increasingly concerned” about recent developments in the Tibet Autonomous Region of China, including reports of violence and loss of life, and urged restraint by the authorities there, according to the UN. Oh yeah, having the neutered UN become “increasingly concerned” is really going to cause change, isn’t it? What a joke.

U.S. Senator John McCain recently said, “The unfolding tragedy in Tibet should draw the attention of the entire world. I deplore the violent crackdown by Chinese authorities and the continuing oppression in Tibet of those merely wishing to practice their faith and preserve their culture and heritage. I have listened carefully to the Dalai Lama and am convinced he is a man of peace who reflects the hopes and aspirations of Tibetans. I urge the government of the People’s Republic of China to address the root causes of unrest in Tibet by opening a genuine dialogue with His Holiness, the Dalai Lama. Reports of shutting down YouTube and confiscation of SIM cards are disturbing and reports of multiple deaths are far more so, especially in a year when China is preparing to host the Olympic Games. I urge the Chinese authorities to ensure peaceful protest is not met with violence, to release monks and others detained for peacefully expressing their views and to allow full outside access to Tibet.” Maybe if he gets elected he will do something for Tibet – which will certainly be far more than Obama or Hillary, with their notions of developing international group-hug sessions while singing “Kum Ba Yah”.

An Atlanta police recruit shot and killed a teen boy who tried to rob him at gunpoint early Saturday [Feb. 9], authorities said.

The 14-year-old allegedly had confronted the recruit while he was in his vehicle in the parking lot of the Parkside Crossing apartments.

Forest Park police Lt. Amy Wright said the teen suffered more than one gunshot wound and died.

Wright also did not release the name or age of the police recruit, but she described him as a younger officer who recently got out of the U.S. Marine Corps, is attending Atlanta’s police academy and lives at Parkside Crossing.

The shooting occurred at 12:15 a.m. The recruit was sitting in his personal vehicle, logged onto his laptop computer because the apartment complex offers free wireless Internet service, Wright said.

He heard a tap on his driver’s side window and looked up to see the boy standing outside his car. The youth allegedly had a shotgun pointed at the recruit’s face.

The boy said something the man did not understand, but the recruit believed the teen wanted his laptop, Wright said.

The recruit could not roll down his window because it was broken, so he began opening the door, she said. As he stood up, he grabbed a handgun that he had at his side and used the laptop to hide the weapon.

The recruit then opened fire on the robber, killing him, Wright said. The would-be victim spotted a second male nearby who apparently was a lookout. That individual ran away and was being sought by police Saturday evening.

Forest Park police found a set of keys on the dead boy for a vehicle that was parked outside the gated complex. The car had been stolen from East Point, Wright said.

The shooting appeared to be in self-defense and no charges were pending against the police recruit, Wright said.

The moral of the story is don’t point a gun at someone if you don’t want to risk being shot by them.

The recruit recently got out of the U.S. Marine Corps. Those guys don’t know how to miss.

The punk was driving around in a stolen vehicle as well. What a loser. But we’re not through with the story just yet:

The 14-year-old boy who was killed when he tried to rob an Atlanta police recruit with a shotgun this weekend also was being sought by police in DeKalb County for an armed robbery at a synagogue.

DeKalb County police were searching for Demario Jackson of Atlanta for allegedly breaking into Ner Hamizrah Synagogue on Lavista Road with a friend Jan. 31 and robbing a congregation member at gunpoint, said Mikki Jones, spokeswoman for the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office.

So now we know the name of the punk – the dead punk – is Demario Jackson, a 14-year-old boy driving around in a stolen car and wanted on armed robbery of a synagogue congregation member. Demario, you are today’s poster child for why I carry a concealed weapon every time I leave my house.

We’ll probably hear Demario’s family spin this until it’s reported that he was an Eagle Scout, rescued abandoned puppies, taught a class on compassion and forgiveness at a local bible college and was comforting a friend in that apartment complex when he stopped to ask directions and was viciously gunned down and had the keys to a stolen car planted on him.

Bah. He was a punk, a seasoned criminal-in-training, and I’m glad this animal was put down before he could harm one of my family.

Danish authorities on Tuesday arrested three people suspected of plotting a cartoonist’s assassination for his depiction of the Prophet Muhammad wearing a bomb-shaped turban that enraged Muslims two years ago.

Three of Denmark’s largest newspapers said they would reprint the cartoon on Wednesday to show they would not be intimidated by fanatics. It was one of 12 Muhammad cartoons published in 2005 and then again in 2006 that led to protests in Muslim countries.

Investigators said they foiled the plot in its early stages in a pre- dawn raid in the western Denmark city of Aarhus. The police intelligence agency, PET, said two Tunisians and a Danish citizen of Moroccan origin were arrested.

“The case shows that, unfortunately, there are in Denmark groups of extremists that do not accept and respect the basic principles on which the Danish democracy has been built,” Prime Minister Anders Fogh Rasmussen said.

Tuesday’s arrests were meant “to prevent a terror-related assassination of one of the cartoonists behind the cartoons of the Prophet Muhammad,” PET chief Jakob Scharf said. Investigators believe the plot had not advanced far enough to try the suspects.

With the arrests this week of five jihadists accused of plotting to murder one of the Danish cartoonists, it’s time to demonstrate sammenhold again.

Perhaps bloggers can take up some of the slack, and provide some leadership for our media outlets here in the US. At the very least, we can do so to salute the courage of the Danes on the front lines for free speech. It’s easy to defend free speech when it doesn’t cost anyone anything. The Danes have manned the barricades when it counts.

Unfortunately, American newspapers and media outlets do not appear interested in expressing the same solidarity. CNN doesn’t include the image in its report, and so far, I haven’t seen any newspaper cover it yet, although they may tomorrow. Only the New York Times gave any coverage to the arrests in today’s editions.
