I must have been a good boy this year, because Santa brought me a brand new Smith & Wesson 642 with an extended Crimson Trace Lasergrip.
It’s aluminum and steel, weighing less than a pound, and carries 5 rounds of .38 Special +P ammunition.
I added a Bianchi Model 100 IWB holster and a Galco Ankle Glove ankle holster.

I needed an “always” gun. I had a Kel-Tec P-3AT, but didn’t like the tiny .380 round. I had a Kel-Tec PF-9, but The Gentle Bride⢠stole it and now keeps it in her purse. I had a Glock 26, but the double stack frame just does not “disappear” the way I need.
But them some folks at Georgia Carry mentioned the light and small S&W 642 with the adequate .38 Special +P round. I soon learned that this a tried-and-true defense platform, carried for years by lots of LEOs nationwide, and is well-respected by many gun experts.
Finally, I may have found my “always” gun. Oh sure, she will never take the place of my 1911 or .357 L frame, but she becomes a special addition to my collection.
Now if I can only find someone selling .38 ammo I’ll be ready for the range.
