Obamacare is … profitable?

The Detroit Free Press explains:

… a $10-billion provision tucked deep inside thousands of pages of health care overhaul bills that could help the UAW‘s retiree health-care plan and other union-backed plans.

It would see the government — at least temporarily — pay 80 cents on the dollar to corporate and union insurance plans for claims between $15,000 and $90,000 for retirees age 55 to 64.

Greg Mourad of the National Right to Work Committee called it “a shameless case of political payback,” saying Democrats and President Barack Obama are trying “to force the rest of us to pay billions to cover those unions’ health care.”

So this is one reason the union goons are being bussed across the country to stand up for Obamacare … because hidden within the legislation is $10 billion taxpayer dollars to pay for union retiree health care. Which means if you are not a union employee then not only do you have to pay for your healthcare but you also are mandated, by law, to pay for a union employee’s healthcare. This is the change you believed in.

And then The New York Times explains:

The breakdown [a cost-benefit breakdown quietly posted on the Web site of the Tennessee Hospital Association] estimates that the industry will receive about $171 billion in additional money over those same 10 years as a result of reimbursements for newly insured patients who would be covered under the overhaul plan. In other words, the hospitals would give up $155 billion in cost cuts, but take in $171 billion in new money — a net gain of $16 billion.

A net gain of $16 billion? Wherever could all this money come from? Yep, out of taxpayers’ wallets.

So, to recap, if you vote for Obamacare you also vote to fund union healthcare and to subsidize hospitals … while still paying for your own healthcare. Hope and Change, huh?
