Here I sit in a suburb of Atlanta, and I haven’t been get to this site for the last hour and a half. Pings and traceroutes were timing out. Seems a single router melted down at a datacenter in Seattle where this site is being hosted (midphase.com), effecting all Windows and Linux shared servers in their Seattle basement. But the techies found the culprit, replaced it, and life is back to normal.
The internet still amazes me. I’m typing on my cheap Dell computer outside of Atlanta and all the tiny bits and bytes are stored on some magical server in Seattle. The pings are returning in just 57.4 milliseconds – much faster than my .357.
My last few visitors came from Arlington Heights IL, Johnson City TN, Greenville SC, Champaign IL, Cranberry Township PA, Reno NV, Rochester NY, Pulaski VA, Imperial MO, Meridian ID, and Ypsilanti MI. Wow.
Just imagine if I actually posted something here to REALLY draw internet traffic …
