All of you readers do realize, don’t you, that Chicago is a gun-free zone. According to the elected officials of Chicago there are firm laws in place that prevent anyone from carrying a gun … as well as existing laws preventing people from using a gun to kill someone else.
When Mayor Richard M. Daley was elected in 1989, he pushed for tighter gun laws, and has become one of the nation’s most vocal gun-control proponents. And under Daley, the city has been willing to spend money to keep its ban in place.
A Chicago ordinance banning handguns and automatic weapons within city limits was recently upheld by a U.S. Court of Appeals panel. You see, you cannot carry a gun in Chicago, period. It’s against the law. Concealed weapons, semi-automatic and automatic weapons are not permitted.
Chicago Mayor Daley said any effort to strike down Chicago’s handgun ban would likely increase taxes because of the increased need for police presence. He also says violence sparked by the end of the ban would also increase hospitalizations. It’s a good thing, then, that since there are no guns in Chicago that there is also no increased need for police presence or violence creating increase hospitalizations. After all, Chicago and four other suburbs ban handgun possession, and those laws are working so well for the innocent people of Chicago, aren’t they?
“Why should our streets of our American cities be open to someone carrying a gun?” said Mayor Daley. Sure thing, Mr. Mayor, and it’s a wonderful thing that your city is not open to someone carrying a gun. Good job, sir.

Says JPFO:
According to University of Chicago Professor John R. Lott, Jr., writing in More Guns, Less Crime: Understanding Crime and Gun Control Laws (Chicago: University of Chicago Press, 1998, p.159), his 15-year analysis of Federal Bureau of Investigation crime-data from every county in the U.S. confirms that counties permitting legal concealed-carry see significant reductions of crime, the largest occurring in big cities. Says Lott, the cost of denying individuals their legal and moral right to the means of self-defense is more violent crime: 1500 additional murders, 4,000 rapes, 11,000 armed robberies, and 60,000 aggravated assaults. In other words, 1500 individuals die each year for lack of a gun.
Chicago’s elected officials support gun control because they prefer an unarmed citizenry. Criminals support gun control because they prefer unarmed victims. Notice any pattern?

Hey, what do you expect from an anti-constitution, pro-crime, criminal elected official. Don’t forgot about folks of the liberal, and Democrat persuasion, too. Certainly we all know that the Democrats and their fellows in crime prefer unarmed citizens. What better way to control the population other than disarm them. History has shown that an unarmed population is rife for victimization by corrupt governments and criminals alike. Whereas an armed population can defend against these threats. What would the Founding Fathers think if they saw all that they worked, and died for being destroyed by another set of terrified politicians, kings? All of whom live in their well guarded palaces whilst the “pee-ons” get to eat cake, and don’t forget die too! What will history make of a government or society, so corrupted, that even the God given right of self-defense is turned into a crime!
