Sen. Barbara Boxer (D-Calif.) didn’t like a Brigadier General calling her “ma’am” at a federal Environment and Public Works hearing Wednesday at hearing she chaired on New Orleans’ levee system.
“Do me a favor,” she said, “could say ‘senator’ instead of ‘ma’am?’ It’s just a thing, I worked so hard to get that title, so I’d appreciate it, yes, thank you.”
WTF?
Saying “ma’am” is a military tradition, part of customs and courtesies, which is one more thing the Democrats are trying to take away from the military. Maybe he should have used “Your Worship?”
Sir and Ma’am are commonly accepted. You can even salute the President and answer “Sir”. This was in no way any sort of slight or lack of respect, rather quite the opposite.
And Boxer is a simple elected official, a worker of the people, not any form of royalty. Even the Queen is properly addressed as Ma’am. Geez.
I wonder if David Letterman would call Boxer a “slut” like he did Palin? I also wonder what General Patton would have called Boxer?
But I JUST HAVE TO repost the more-than-excellent of Emperor Misha I at the Anti-Idiotarian Rottweiler:
Congressional Whore Barbara Boxer getting all snippy because Brigadier General Walsh addresses her as “ma’am” instead of using the derogatory “Senator.”
As she said: “I worked so hard to get that title.”
We’re sure she did, and we shall be gracious enough to refrain from going into details about the “work” she likely had to perform to get it.
Somebody ought to let the cupid stunt know that “ma’am” and “sir” are titles that polite people of actual upbringing use to address, respectfully, other individuals of either sex. As a matter of fact, he used “sir” to address male Senators as well.
If Brigadier General Walsh had chosen to be disrespectful, he’d have addressed her as “Senator”, which, being associated with politicians, is quite a bit more insulting than calling somebody a “retarded, cum-guzzling, corrupt, thieving, illegitimate bastard bitch daughter of a crack whore mom.”
And that goes for male Senators too.
The only place that a politician looks really good is at the end of a rope, rotting in an idle summer breeze.
