The city of Mumbai, India, has been rocked to the core by days of terrorist attack. Many dead, many more injured. Many questions, few answers. This attack may be the most significant terrorist attack since the Sept. 11 attack against the United States.
An unknown group calling itself Deccan Mujahideen has claimed responsibility for the massacre in Mumbai. There is some talk of the attacks coming from a group called the Indian Mujahedeen. A U.S. counterterrorism official said the level of sophistication in the attack leads officials to believe that it might be tied to Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), although LeT denies any responsibility. But the sophistication of the execution of the attacks, and the deliberate targeting of Westerners, makes it probable that it was, in fact, Lashkar-e-Taiba that is responsible.
Lashkar-e-Taiba – the Army of the Righteous or Pure – is the terrorist wing of the Pakistan-based Islamic religious party, Markaz-ud-Dawa-wal-Irshad (an Islamic anti-Christian missionary organization that was formed in 1989). It is one of the three largest and best-trained terrorist groups murdering and mutilating Hindus, Christians, Communists, and peaceful Muslims in Kashmir, the northwestern region of the Indian subcontinent. It is a jihadi group of Wahhabi persuasion, backed by Saudi money and protected by Pakistani intelligence services.
Lashkar-e-Tayyba is a member of Osama bin Laden’s International Islamic Front for Jihad against the U.S. and Israel, as well as of the United Jihad Council. Its chief sponsor is the Pakistani government, supposedly a US ally in the fight against global terrorism.
The Lashkar-e-Tayyba’s agenda is outlined in a pamphlet titled “Why are we waging jihad.” It includes the restoration of Islamic rule over all parts of India and propagates a narrow Islamic fundamentalism based on the Wahabi sect.
Gunmen arrived by boats at the Mumbai waterfront near the Gateway of India monument in Mumbai, India, on Wednesday night, November 26. The gunmen hijacked cars, including a police van, and split into at least three groups to carry out their attacks, killing more than 120 people, with another 300-900 people wounded. Innocent people. Unarmed civilians. People guilty of no crime.
One group headed toward the Cafe Leopold, a popular hangout for Western tourists, firing indiscriminately at passers-by on the street. The group then opened fire and lobbed grenades at the Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus railway station. As police rushed to the scene of the attacks, gunmen attacked the Cama Hospital for women and infants. Several people were killed at the hospital.
Two other groups attacked the Oberoi and Taj Mahal hotels, taking hostages there. The gunmen also took hostages at the Chabad House, where several Jewish families live. The gunmen gunmen fired indiscriminately from the Chabad House. Stray bullets killed a couple in their home and a 16-year-old boy who stepped outside.
Authorities found 8 kilograms (17 pounds) of RDX, one of the most powerful kinds of military explosives, at a restaurant near the Taj, indicating that the attackers may have been planning more violence.
The terrorists launched a sophisticated, multi-pronged attack into a city of 18 million residents. This requires planning, training, funding, and detailed reconnaissance. The targets were chosen carefully to achieve maximum effect. The terrorists hit hotels, a train station, a movie house, a residential complex, and a hospital – all soft targets. They also were able to plant bombs in taxis as well as capture a police van, which was then used in a drive-by shooting spree. The assault teams coordinated and synchronized their attacks to overwhelm Mumbai security. The terrorists were able to take a significant number of hostages. They knew where to find foreigners.
Was this a practice round for an attack in England or the US? Was India selected because of its lack of security? There is already evidence that Westerners, not Indians or Hindu, were specifically targeted. Was al-Qaeda quietly behind all of this?
Is there anyone else out there besides me that is really getting fed up with Islamic terrorism? No, not Christian, Jewish, or Hindu terrorism. No, not Buddhist or Shintoist terrorism. And no, not even n Shamanistic, Paganistic, or Scientologist rooted terrorism.
Islamic terrorism, from The Religion Of Peace™, that is responsible for approximately a quarter of all terrorism fatalities worldwide, as well as various acts of acts airline hijacking, beheading, kidnapping, torture, assassination, roadside bombing, suicide bombing, and rape. If you pull your head out of the sand (or maybe your butt) for more than a few moments you will discover that terrorism and violence in Islam isn’t a phenomenon due to either political or economic injustices, nor is it a recent phenomenon, nor is it an infrequent phenomenon. The painful truth, the one that few media elites or social apologists are loathe to speak, is that terrorism and violence are fundamental components of Islam. Hatred of the Jews and the Christians, and the call for their killing, is quite normal, and is a divinely ordained obligation which is placed on all Muslims by Allah. The Quran promises that death in the cause of Islam transports one instantly to Paradise.
The larger, richer, and more powerful Islam becomes, the more deaths by terrorists will be seen on the nightly news.
