Plans are being made to promote a national holiday for Barack Obama, who will become the nation’s 44th president when he takes the oath of office Jan. 20.

“Yes We Can” planning rallies will be at 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. every Tuesday at the downtown McDonald’s restaurant, 1100 Kansas Ave., until Jan. 13. The goals are to secure a national holiday in Obama’s honor, to organize celebrations around his inauguration and to celebrate the 200th birthday of President Abraham Lincoln, who was born on Feb. 12 1809.

Says the commenters:

• Are you freakin kidding me? A national holiday for a guy who hasn’t even shown if he can lead? He may be the president elect, but he hasn’t even proven that he has what it takes to lead this country.
• Obama cake will be the symbolic body of the Lord Barack Zer0-Bama. Our Savior who worships Himself.
• Leave Abraham Lincoln out of this. What kind of a freaking joke is this to try to secure a national holiday for a president-elect. Wait 8 years, if he is still president, see what kind of a legacy, if any, he leaves behind, and then decide if he is worthy of an attempt to make a national holiday.
• Lemme see….Obama has done….ummmm….nothing, yet. Even as Senator, all he’s done is talk and avoid issues to run for President. They already want a NATIONAL holiday? There’s already a national holiday for Presidents. What next? Bow before His Excellence? Chant “Yes We CAn” while goose-stepping down the street in his Civilian Paramilitary Corps? Everyone REQUIRED to serve.
• Understandable as to why they wish to celebrate in front of his performance since once his incompetence becomes obvious to even the most fervent of his disciples, he will become an international joke that will set back the opportunites for capable blacks for at least a generation.
• I once thought it was required that a person be dead before they are memorialized. Oh, but we’re speaking of the Savior, The Chosen One.
• This has to be the most insulting, stupid idea that has been presented to the American people in my lifetime, the lifetime of my mother, and also granny’s lifetime. Sick is the person who dreamed this up.
• Lord help us all. This is the most ridiculous thing I’ve ever heard. As the daughter of an Eastern European immigrant who escaped awful things, this man and his associates terrify me.
• The Socialists will do anything to keep their man in the lime light. This has got the be the most ridiculous idea I’ve ever heard. Surly people won’t go for this BS by the nutjobs of the Demosocialists.
• You have got to be sh1tting me. I could care less if he was the first purple man voted to office. This is what makes me nervous about the Obamanation folks. The man could walk around with feces all over him, mumbeling random thoughts, while tanking this country and you freaks of followers would say he was great.
• There is no holiday for a living president and I do not think we should start now. It’s as if Obama fever has hit a very hot high! He is President-Elect and hasn’t done ANYTHING as of yet! There are many other issues that are so much more important than a holiday for someone who has yet to prove himself.
• I thought this would be something the liberal loonies out here on the Left Coast might pull, not my good ole home state of Kansas. I guess too many people have drunk of the Messiah’s Kool-Aid everywhere. BTW are we changing the rules for having a national holiday now too? I thought it was a prerequisite that you must be dead to have a holiday in your name or are you reading something into the future?
• When will the places of worship, and the “Obama “the One, the Messiah” Worshipping Mass,” complete with worship service, hymns, and prayers, be established? “Come to me. Give me your burderns. I will bring you Peace and Save Your Soul!” All Hail The One!
• Your “warm fuzzies” over the symbolism of electing this creature will be poor consolation when you’re in one his re-education camps or being executed because you’re not sufficiently submissive to “Dear Leader.”
• This is beyond comical. First he is not even in the Whitehouse. Then There have been past Presidents that had just as much African American in them . Obama is half white and half arab with a splash of African in him. So in that case he only wins the he is the darkest skinned President in our history. Why don’t we wait to see where he is going to take our nation before we start giving out holidays.
