Why I Carry A Gun

The following is from an email of someone I know in Georgia:

Saturday night my daughter (Blayne) was leaving a friends house and traveling home back to Dasher on Inner Perimeter. She was stopped at the red light on the corner of Perimeter and Forest Street. It was about 11:15 and she had her windows down and sunroof open. A truck also pulled up to the light. She did not look at the truck or the passenger.

The next thing she knew, a man was reaching inside her car and opened her door. He had his hand over her mouth and was to pulling her out of the car by her arm. The seat belt is what prevented him from pulling her all the way out. She immediately hit the gas and ran the light. She was terrified and realized she had ran over him. She is not exactly sure if he fell and she ran over him, his leg or just his foot. She flew home in a state of shock. We then called 911 and the police sent someone to the area, not to find them there.

We do not know his intent, whether it was an attempted car-jacking, robbery or worse. These people were looking for any opportunity to do exactly what they attempted. The man also had on gloves!!!!! All she remembered was the truck was dark gray, extended cab. Not an old truck or a new. The man was between 45 – 60. Had on jeans, t-shirt, gloves and a long unkept beard. Apparently, they were looking for an opportunity or he would not had on gloves. Needless to say, this was an extremely traumatic experience for all us and one Blayne will never forget.

The officer told Blayne to tell EVERYONE she knows. This was not just an isolated incident. This unfortunately is happening more and more right here in our town. He said this is happening in the daytime and nighttime to men and women. Remember……..this happened one block from our main office. Keep your doors locked, windows up and be very aware of your surroundings.

This is also why my daughter carries a gun.
This is also why my son carries a gun.
This is also why my wife carries a gun.

That is one of my biggest fears. I love having my windows down and my sunroof open when the weather is nice–it’s as close as I can get to my bike without actually having one. I can’t imagine what I’d do if that happened to me. I mean, that happens so fast. What if I have my gun but I can’t get to it fast enough?
