Q: Sen. Biden, what could the federal government have done to save those kids at Virginia Tech?

A: What they could have done is three things. 1. In the so-called Biden crime bill, we put 100,000 cops on the street. I’ve worked with law enforcement for the past 30 years, with armor-piercing bullets, waiting periods, etc. But the one thing that’s clear: We should not have let the assault weapons ban lapse. 2. We should close this so-called gun show loophole, so you can’t go into a gun show and buy a gun that you couldn’t buy walking into a gun shop. 3. We have let the country down in the way in which we have not focused on mental illness. We should know that your kid is safe at college. If teachers determine that a child is a danger, the school should be able to take them off the campus.

Biden scores an “F” by the NRA on his anti-gun rights policies … just like his partner Obama.

There is no such thing as a “gun show loophole”. There never has been such a thing. It’s a phantom created by the anti-gun crowd to scare ignorant voters. Every gun dealer is required to run an instant background check on all gun purchases … period.

The assault weapons ban was nothing more than a “scary-looking rifle” ban. The bill’s definition of “assault weapon” is arbitrary at best, asinine at worst, relying on standards that, at times, don’t even significantly deal with the functionality of weapons. The initial legislation was written by staffers who bought a gun buyer’s guide and picked the weapons that looked mean without any regard to size of bullet or bullet velocity or energy. In the original legislation were the exact typographical errors that appeared in a gun buyer’s guide mentioning guns that didn’t even exist. In addition, “assault weapons” were responsible for less than 1% of all deaths of law enforcement officers, even before the ban.

The Washington Post columnist Charles Krauthammer admitted that the ban’s “only real justification is not to reduce crime but to desensitize the public to the regulation of weapons in preparation for their ultimate confiscation.” The ban erodes respect for the right of the people to keep and bear arms.

That leaves us with: (1) Joe Biden is an idiot, (2) Joe Biden is a liar, or (3) Joe Biden is a Democrat. Change you can believe in.
