McCain-Palin

It’s 11:00 am Friday, and while it ain’t OFFICIAL just yet it appears to be a fact:

John McCain has chosen Alaska Governor Sarah Palin to be his running mate.

Sarah (Heath) Palin was born on February 11, 1964 in Sandpoint, Idaho. She is 44 years old. Her family moved to Alaska in 1964. Sarah attended Wasilla High School and played on the basketball team. She is also a former beauty queen, having competed in the Miss Alaska contest in 1984. During her pageant days, she was named Miss Congeniality.

Sarah attended the University of Idaho, where she received a Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism in 1987.

She served two terms on the Wasilla City Council and then went on to become Mayor of Wasilla. On December 4, 2006, she took office as Governor of Alaska and is the first woman to do so. She has been touted by the media as one of the most popular governors in the United States. In an August 2007 poll, she had an approval rating of 84% and only 5% disapproving.

Highlights of Governor Palin’s tenure include a successful push for an ethics bill, and also shelving pork-barrel projects supported by fellow Republicans. Palin successfully killed the ‘Bridge to Nowhere’ project that had become a nationwide symbol of wasteful earmark spending.

Palin is strongly pro-life and belongs to Feminists for Life. She is also an advocate of drilling for oil in her state’s Arctic National Wildlife Refuge (ANWR).

She hunts, eats moose burgers, ice fishes, rides snowmobiles, and owns a float plane. Palin holds a lifetime membership with the National Rifle Association. She admits that she used marijuana when it was legal in Alaska, but says that she did not like it.

Governor Palin is married to Todd Pallin, who is a commercial fisherman, and they have five children – Track, 19, Bristol, 17, Willow, 13, Piper, 7, and newborn Trig. They make their home in Wasilla. Their oldest son, Track, 18, joined the Army on September 11, 2007. Also Palin refused to let the results of prenatal genetic testing change her decision to have Trig, who has Down syndrome. “I’m looking at him right now, and I see perfection,” Palin said.

Before Palin I was relegated to voting for McCain simply because he was better than Obama. Now I actually WANT to vote for the McCain-Palin ticket.

Am I the only one that thinks having kids named Bristol and Track is funny? Next child name: Nascar!

But, really, good choice. I want to do some more research, but it isn’t like I’m voting for Obama, anyway…

I hate it that she’s going to have to take over for McCain when he kills over, though. Look how young and pretty she is! In four years, after dealing with all this stress, she is going to be all wrinkley!

    I like Sarah Palin.

McCain’s a scumbag. This selection will not win my vote. However, I do recognize that it does bring hope that the Republicans may someday move to the right and start paying attention to those of us who want the crimes of the last 100 years addressed, AND I further recognize (for the shorter term) that this move marks the end of the already-doomed Oblahma candidacy.

    ‘Nuff said.
