Common Folk Using Common Sense

So the High Holy Obamessiah will finally make his grand entrance tonight at the DNC circus, and he’ll do so not in any hall or convention center … he’ll do it in a stadium, and he’ll do so under a facade of a Greek temple.

Says Ed Morrissey:

Politico reports that “senior Democratic officials” have had second thoughts about the wisdom of the scope, scale, and setting for tonight’s Barack Obama speech at Invesco Field. The Greek temple set design appears to have been the last straw, and they now worry about the “rock star” impression that this will leave with American voters who increasingly see Obama as a fad and not a serious candidate. Democrats failed to foresee this despite nominating their least qualified and experienced candidate in decades, if not in their entire history

Dude, it’s called Buyer’s remorse.

What hasn’t been answered is why Obama decided to go with this theme rather than use a more traditional, American theme for his staging.

Again, says Ed:

It’s a paean to an ego run amuck — and if American voters wondered about the cult of personality that Obama has inspired, this settles the question and explicitly makes Obama the cult leader.

The die-hard Progressives have never been ones fond of the traditional Judeo-Christian God, so maybe in their thirst for needing something to believe in they have created The Obamessiah, The One, the god that grants you peace and tranquility as long as you turn everything over to Him - including your freedom and property.

Obama was the only member of the state Senate to vote against a bill to prohibit the early release of convicted criminal sexual abusers; was among only four who voted against bills to toughen criminal sentences and to increase penalties for “gangbangers” and dealers of Ecstasy; and voted “present” on a bill making it harder for abusive parents to regain custody of their children, a Washington Times review of Illinois legislative records shows. He is the Liberal’s Liberal.

The National Journal magazine rated Obama, based on his 2007 voting record, as the most liberal member of the Senate, even more liberal than Sen. Bernard Sanders of Vermont, a self-described “democratic socialist.” His running mate, Sen. Joseph R. Biden Jr. of Delaware, ranked third in the 2007 National Journal survey, with only Sen. Edward M. Kennedy between him and Mr. Obama. So where are all the “moderate” and “conservative” Democrats, assuming they actually exist anymore?

“I simply believe that those of us who have benefited most from this new economy can best afford to shoulder the obligation of ensuring every American child has a chance for that same success.” These are not the words of Karl Marx … they come from He who would be the next President. From each according to his ability, to each according to their need. Socialism. And since voluntary Socialism rarely works, the military must be called in to provide order and compliance, and that is Communism.

A god to the Liberals, a Communist wearing red, white, and blue to Conservatives, this is Barack Obama. And he is only 68 days away from being the President of the United States.
