From the Atlanta Journal-Constitution:
Cobb County police Wednesday were investigating the overnight death of a man found shot in the parking lot of a church.
A passerby discovered the victim about 9:30 p.m. in the parking lot of the Powers Ferry Church of Christ, at 835 Powers Ferry Road, across the street from an apartment complex. Police believe the young man may live nearby.
The victim was identified as Joel Ray Andresen, 17, said Sgt. Dana Pierce, a Cobb police spokesman.
The caller to 911 said Andresen had trauma to his body and was bleeding. Andresen was taken to WellStar Kennestone Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Investigators have not disclosed a motive for the shooting. Pierce said no arrests had been made.
How can this be? It’s completely unpossible! Everyone in Georgia knows that it’s illegal to have a gun anywhere near a church. The laws in Georgia are written that way so that the old ladies, teenaged girls, and baby puppies can all be safe when near a church. In Georgia churches are Gun Free Zones. The vile criminal had certainly got to be from out-of-state not to realize that it is against the law for anyone in Georgia to have a gun anywhere near a church.
