Hat tip to the Conservative Scalawag:
From Ocala.com:
On Thursday night, a would-be robber thought he had an easy target and showed his pistol. What he didn’t know was that businessman Leslie Morris had a gun too.
Morris pulled his Cal-Tech 9mm handgun first, and the robber ran away. Now Ocala police are looking for him.
According to an Ocala police report, Morris, 43, told a detective that as he left his Looking Good Beauty Salon, at 1971 W. Silver Springs Blvd., he saw a man with a shirt that covered his face approaching him quickly.
Morris put his hand on his gun, which was hidden in the small of his back.
Morris said the would-be robber lifted his shirt and put his hand on a silver revolver. The man said, “Hey dog,” and Morris pointed his own gun at the startled robber. Morris then told the robber to drop his weapon.
“He was within a second or two of being in the morgue,” Morris said in an interview with the Star-Banner.
Morris said he told the robber to get down. At the same time, Morris said, he looked behind him and saw another man not far behind him. Not knowing if the second man was involved, Morris said he had his eyes on both men and the man who had the weapon ran away. Morris said the second man also ran away. He believes they were working together.
Ha! Some goofy goblin thought he had an easy mark. He thought he would take, by threat of death, this guy’s property. Just another stupid goblin that hasn’t realized that some people have had enough of crime and have decided not to wait 10 minutes for the police to wrap the area in that yellow crime tape.
But I do have to take opposition to something the intended victim had to say:
Morris, who authorities said has a permit to carry a concealed weapon, described the gunman as a tall, thin black man who was wearing dark pants and used a brown shirt to cover his face.
“I’m encouraging business owners to bear arms to protect yourself,” Morris said. “I was prepared.”
The Air Force veteran said, “I guarantee you that he will think twice about doing that again.”
With all due respect, Mr. Morris, you are dead wrong. The correct response should have been “I’m encouraging all law-abiding citizens to bear arms to protect yourself.” It ain’t just business people that are targets, and it’s not just business people that deserve to live, and it’s not just business people that should be able to defend themselves from those that would do us harm.
The list should include retirees, soccer moms, college students, parents, grandparents, church members … the list should include everyone.
