Barack Obama is the overwhelming favorite for president among progressive activists, according to a Politico.com straw poll conducted at the Take Back America conference held in Washington recently.
72% of those polled preferred to see Obama nominated as the Democratic Party’s presidential candidate, with rival Hillary Rodham Clinton claiming a scant 16% of support and 12% of respondents saying either would be fine.
Progressives historically advocate the advancement of workers’ rights and social justice. The progressives were early proponents of anti-trust laws, regulation of large corporations and monopolies, as well as government-funded environmentalism. American progressives tend to support interventionist economics: they advocate income redistribution, and they oppose the growing influence of corporations. Progressives are in agreement on an international scale with left-liberalism in that they support organized labor and trade unions, they usually wish to introduce a living wage, and they often support the creation of a universal health care system.

Or, in other words, Progressives are Socialists hiding behind a less-threatening moniker. And remember that a Communist is nothing more than a Socialist with a gun.
So a more accurate title of this post would be “Socialists Luv Obama”, and that says volumes about Obama.
