It’s only a month until Tax Day in the US. So how many taxes do the average US taxpayer pay? The number may surprise you. Here is a non-exhaustive list:

Federal Income Tax
Federal Unemployment Tax (FUTA)
Fishing License Tax
Food License Tax
Fuel Perm it Tax

Hunting License Tax
Inheritance Tax
Inventory Tax
IRS Interest Charges (tax on top of tax)
IRS Penalties (tax on top of tax)
Liquor Tax
Luxury Tax
Marriage License Tax
Medicare Tax
Property Tax
Real Estate Tax
Service charge taxes
Social Security Tax

And just because you don’t expressly pay one of these taxes you can be sure that the effect of these taxes are built into the costs of goods and services we all use.

Is anyone ready to at least try the FairTax yet?
