The Left is constantly screaming about the US death toll in Iraq. They point out that this is one of the reasons to now cut-and-run. Total U.S. troop deaths in Iraq as of last week were reported at 2,863.
But, according to statistics released by Rep. Steve King (R-Iowa), some Pesky Facts® should turn some heads. According to him, citing estimates based on data collected from prisons, news reports and independent research, 4,380 Americans murdered annually by illegal aliens. That’s 21,900 since Sept. 11, 2001.

12 Americans are murdered daily by illegal aliens. Another 13 are killed by drunk illegal alien drivers. This brings the annual death toll to 4,745 – or 23,725 since Sept. 11, 2001. Also anecdotal evidence suggests many of last year’s 42,636 road deaths involved illegal aliens.
Wow. This would indicate that illegal aliens are more hazardous to innocent Americans that the insurgents in Iraq. But while the Left screams and moans against US involvement in Iraq do you think we’ll hear a peep out of them about the larger death toll caused by the hands of illegal aliens?

In April 2005, the Government Accountability Office released a report on a study of 55,322 illegal aliens incarcerated in federal, state, and local facilities during 2003. It found the following:
- The 55,322 illegal aliens studied represented a total of 459,614 arrests – some eight arrests per illegal alien;
- Their arrests represented a total of about 700,000 criminal offenses – some 13 offenses per illegal alien;
- 36 percent had been arrested at least five times before.
By some estimates, illegal aliens represent 10% of the general population but 30% of the prison population.
“While the vast majority of illegal aliens are decent people who work hard and are only trying to make a better life for themselves and their families, (something you or I would probably do if we were in their place), it is also a fact that a disproportionately high percentage of illegal aliens are criminals and sexual predators,” states Peter Wagner, author of a new report called “The Dark Side of Illegal Immigration.” “That is part of the dark side of illegal immigration and when we allow the ‘good’ in we get the ‘bad’ along with them. The question is, how much ‘bad’ is acceptable and at what price?”
What would the US look like without illegal aliens? There would be no one to smuggle across our southern border the heroin, marijuana, cocaine, and methamphetamines that plague the United States, reducing the U.S. supply of meth that day by 80%. The lives of 12 U.S. citizens would be saved who otherwise die a violent death at the hands of murderous illegal aliens each day. Another 13 Americans would survive who are otherwise killed each day by uninsured drunk driving illegals. Our hospital emergency rooms would not be flooded with everything from gunshot wounds, to anchor babies, to imported diseases to hangnails, giving American citizens the day off from standing in line behind illegals. Eight American children would not suffer the horror as a victim of a sex crime.
But the Professional Politicians Of Washington™ are way too busy pandering to illegal votes to actually worry about protecting innocent Americans. People who disrespect our laws at the outset of their relationship with Americans should not profit from their lawbreaking.
