In Two Weeks There Will Be An Election In The US

October 24th, 2006 · No Comments

The Left contributes nothing but proposals for surrender, appeasement, and passivity. As far as the war is concerned, that “D” next to a candidate’s name on next month’s ballot stands for “defeat.” Not one Liberal actually wants the US to be victorious in the Middle East. Not one Liberal actually wants the US to be victorious anywhere.

Democrats have no plan for keeping America safe, or winning the war against the fanatics. They have opposed most of the Bush administration’s domestic surveillance methods. They have opposed aggressive interrogation tactics designed to get information to protect us, including opposition to the detention center at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, where detainees are treated better than they could expect if they were detained in their homelands.

defeat

If the Left wins, our retreats won’t result in immediate American deaths – but it will probably later on. If we leave a power vaccum in Iraq and Afghanistan many of the people that now support our efforts in those countries will die. Cut-and-run doesn’t make us any friends in an area where we desperately need friends. Has everyone forgotten how we ran away from North Vietnam?

The Democrats are the people who admit planning on cutting off funding for the troops. The Democrats are the people who were in charge when a record number of American service members needed food stamps to survive.

For all of their promises to do a better job of fighting this war, Democrats have no plan, other than retreat. That is the plan the terrorists have for us. Retreat is not in their playbook. The terrorists in Iraq and elsewhere don’t speak of timetables for withdrawal or bringing their fighters home in time for Ramadan. They’re in it for the long haul. They believe we are not. A victory by Democrats next month will validate their view and encourage them to fight harder.

Recently the official Democratic Party website carried a picture of a soldier with the story that Republicans don’t care about the troops. Yet the picture was of a Canadian Army soldier and it didn’t get replaced until after many of us Conservative blogs were caught laughing at them … yes, they don’t even know what a real US soldier looks like in uniform!

As far as any Iraqi operations, the Dems will do the same as they did with Vietnam: they will refuse to pass any spending legislation, meaning no money for the operation, therefore no operations, leaving the US with no other option than to run away.

Japanese Admiral Yamomoto Isoroku, the man responsible for planning and organizing the attack on Pearl Harbor, soon afterward made an oft-quoted remark to his staff officers: “I fear that we have awakened a sleeping giant, and filled him with a terrible resolve.” Yet only five years after a worse attack how many Americans have fallen back to sleep with absolutely no resolve?

According to police sources, hundreds of Iraqi policemen were poisoned during their recent Ramadan meal. Fatalities have been reported but numbers vary. Whatever the cause, it sure seemed to act quickly. Some men collapsed after standing upon completion of the meal. This is the type of enemy the US will face – either over there or over here.

Don’t let the media convince you that things are going badly in Iraq. The Anbar tribes are now fighting al Qaeda on their own initiative, and the Shi’ite-dominated government is slowly dismantling al Sadr’s Mahdi Army. “Experts” predicted that neither of these things would ever happen because of secular loyalties, but they are happening, and only because we’re forcing the Iraqis to stand up and fight for their country.

But what about the Soldiers, the Airmen, the Sailors, the Marines? They’re dying over there! Get them out!

Guess what? I –DO– want them out … but only –AFTER– the job is done. More than twice as many Marines were killed taking one island in the Pacific during World War II than all the Americans killed in the four years of the Iraq war. More Americans were killed in one day during the Civil War. People die in war, both civilian and military, and each is tragic. But that does not deter from the fact this this is a just and necessary war than not only must be fought but also fought to the end.

And no ranking Democrat wants to see this to the end. If the Democrats take Congress the troops will come home too quickly … and Iraq will fall to the terrorists … and the Middle East will know America as nothing more than a Paper Tiger … and all the sacrifice this far will have been in vain. So if you really do care about the military then let them do their job.

Read this:

KABUL, Afghanistan – An attempt by extremists to burn down a girls’ school in Puli Alam District, Logar Province, was stopped by local villagers on Oct. 2.

An estimated 10 extremists were attempting to burn down Karnail Girls School in Hesarek Village when local villagers arrived at the school. The villagers confronted the extremists and demanded they leave, forcing them out of their village.

The Afghan National Police also arrived at the scene, but the extremists had already fled.

No one was injured in the attempted attack.

“The Afghan people are rejecting the violence of the extremists who offer nothing but fear and intimidation,” said Col. Thomas Collins, Combined Forces Command – Afghanistan spokesman. “Afghans are increasingly taking responsibility for their own security and safety.”

Do you really think these villagers would have stood against the extremists had it not been for the US military being close by? Our military emboldens the innocent, not the terrorists – the terrorists will be here no matter what.

Islam is anything but peaceful. It is a false religion which bases it’s entire foundation upon violence. Until we are not so politically correct and are willing to name our enemy, we can never win this war. Liberals will never name the enemy. Liberals will only blame the US. Liberals will never win.

But the Democrats only want an Exit Strategy, right? A Withdrawal Timetable, right? No other war in thousands of years of history has ever had such a timetable announced to their enemies. Even if we intended to get out by a given date, there is not the slightest reason to tell the terrorists that. It is frivolous politics at its worst – and it’s the only topic the Democrats want to discuss. You think this election is not important?

There has never been any reason to doubt that American troops will be removed from Iraq. They were removed after the first Gulf War. Before that, they were removed from Grenada and from other Western Hemisphere countries throughout the 20th century. Millions of American troops were removed from Europe after World War II.

Why should there be the slightest doubt that they will be removed from Iraq? The only question is whether you can run a war on a timetable like a railroad and whether you need to announce your plans to your enemies.

All this rhetoric about a withdrawal timetable is based on trying to make political hay out of the fact that the Iraq war is unpopular. But all wars have been unpopular with Americans, as they should be. But just because it’s unpopular does not mean you tell your ememy when you’re planning to walk off the battlefield – you don’t have to be Patton to understand this. Yet this is the only thing the Left wants to talk about.
