Adam Yahiye Gadahn

Adam Yahiye Gadahn (born September 1, 1978) is an American-born member of the Al Qaeda terror organization who, in recent years, has become an English-language spokesman for the group. He is notable for his suspected appearances as “Azzam the American”, a spokesperson in 2004-2006 videotapes which claim to be messages from Al Qaeda to the United States. In 2004, he was added to the FBI “Seeking Information – War on Terrorism list”, on which he still remains listed by the FBI.

The FBI lists his aliases as Abu Suhayb Al-Amriki, Abu Suhayb, Yihya Majadin Adams, Adam Pearlman, and Yayah. They describe this ‘American Taliban’ as 5′ 11″, 190 pounds, brown hair and eyes, light complexion, with a medium build. The FBI says that Gadahn should be considered armed and dangerous. They also say he was one member of a Khalid Sheikh Mohammed-hatched plot to blow up gas stations in the Baltimore area.

Gadahn was born Adam Pearlman, the son of musician Phil Pearlman. Gadahn’s family raised and butchered goats in accordance with halal food requirements for sale to Muslim groceries on a farm in Riverside County, California. Gadahn’s Jewish grandfather, Carl Pearlman, was a prominent surgeon and on the Board of Directors of the Anti-Defamation League , but Gadahn’s father converted to Christianity and changed his name to “Gadahn”, derived from the name of the Biblical figure “Gideon”. He was homeschooled until 15, when he moved in with his grandparents in Santa Ana, California. Gadahn converted to Islam and in 1995, Gadahn posted an essay to the USC website describing his conversion, entitled “Becoming a Muslim”. According to his parents, Gadahn moved to Pakistan in 1998, where he married an Afghan refugee.

Is anyone surprised that the two most prominent Americans caught up in the war on terror are Californians? Adam Gadahn and John Walker Lindh (who is now serving jail time after being caught in Afghanistan with the Taliban) come from Orange County and Marin, respectively. Both had non-traditional schooling and non-conformist parents from the late-sixties radical anti-Americanism, anti-globalization, anti-capitalism, Whole Earth – in other words his parents were washed-out hippies who raised him on a goat farm without electricity or indoor plumbing. Gadahn’s complaints and motivations are almost identical to his father’s. Militant Islam is not that different from our own militant hippies of the sixties. This time the apple did not fall far from the tree.

What do they put in the water out there in the Golden State? So far California has given us both Lindh and Gadahn, the two most famous traitors (‘holy warriors’) to date. What will the future bring out of California?

So now Gadahn is speaking as Muhammad’s apostle, expressing joy in the brutal murders of his enemies, and telling non-Muslims to convert non-Muslims to Islam or live as inferiors under Islamic rule.

Most of the reports on Gadahn say he discovered/converted to Islam “in a mosque in Southern California”. Isn’t it strange that its always a mosque that leads them to bombs? Sort of like marijuana being a gateway drug to meth, heroin and crack, a mosque seems to be a gateway to bombs and death.

Gadahn reminds me of the unpopular kid in high school who nobody liked and girls laughed at when he asked for a date. That type sometimes goes on to be a loser adult blaming the rest of the world for his failure – which would explain to me his conversion to Islam. In the US this guy stood no chance in getting a girl, but now he has the power to command any wife he wants – and also maker her behave as he wants her to. In all seriousness I do believe this has a great deal to do with why so many young men turn to Islam. And remember that their heaven is populated with virgins just waiting on you.

On the other hand, “Emergency Medicine”, 6th Ed. By Tintinelli pp 1076, states: “A profound paranoid psychosis occurs with amphetamine abuse and withdrawal”. Also too much dexadrine use can cause the tell-tale nervousness and dry mouth that is seen in Gadahn’s videos. Just wondering.

From his essay at USC, where he lists his name as Yahiye Adam Gadahn:

My father was raised agnostic or atheist, but he became a believer in One God when he picked up a Bible left on the beach. He once had a number of Muslim friends, but they’ve all moved out of California now. My mother was raised Catholic, so she leans towards Christianity (although she, like my father, disregards the Trinity). I and my siblings were/are home-schooled, and as you may know, most home-school families are Christian. In the last 8 or so years, we have been involved with some home-schooling support groups, thus acquainting me with fundamentalist Christianity. It was an eye-opening experience. Setting aside the blind dogmatism and charismatic wackiness, it was quite a shock to me when I realized that these people, in their prayers, were actually praying TO JESUS. You see, I had always believed that Jesus (pbuh) was, at the very most, the Son of God (since that is what the Bible mistranslates “Servant of God” as). As I learned that belief in the Trinity, something I find absolutely ridiculous, is considered by most Christians to be a prerequisite for salvation, I gradually realized I could not be a Christian.

Earlier this year, I began to listen to the apocalyptic ramblings of Christian radio’s “prophecy experts.” Their paranoid espousal of various conspiracy theories, rabid support of Israel and religious Zionism, and fiery preaching about the “Islamic Threat” held for me a strange fascination. Why? Well, I suppose it was simply the need I was feeling to fill that void I had created for myself. In any case, I soon found that the beliefs these evangelists held, such as Original Sin and the Infallibility of “God’s Word”, were not in agreement with my theological ideas (not to mention the Bible) and I began to look for something else to hold onto.

In 2005, on the fourth anniversary of the September 11, 2001 attacks, an eleven minute videotape message purportedly from Al-Qaeda was broadcast on the ABC News program “Good Morning America”. The American English-accented speaker, a man whose face was partially concealed, was identified by U.S. intelligence officials to be Gadahn. The speaker criticized U.S. foreign policy and military activity, particularly in Iraq and Afghanistan, and he suggested that there would be future attacks in Los Angeles, California and Melbourne, Australia:

“Yesterday, London and Madrid.
Tomorrow, Los Angeles and Melbourne, God willing.
At this time, don’t count on us demonstrating restraint or compassion.”

Gadahn’s first project for the Sahab media production operation, created by Osama bin Laden, was providing English narration to “The 19 Martyrs,” a video memorializing the September 11 attacks on America.

In his most recent video Gadahn spouted the brilliant idea that the terrorists would stop murdering people, and the world would find peace, if everyone just decided to convert to Islam. Convert to The Religion Of Peace©, or die.

Shamalama says: A home-grown Islamofascist created from Leftist parents. Is anyone surprised? This kiddie needs to be put down before he hurts someone.
