I have struggled with this topic for a long time. The pictures STILL turn my stomach, and I’ve had no desire to post them here for all the world to see. But after reading the news over the last few days I can’t stay silent anymore.

Details emerged yesterday about the seven interrogation techniques the CIA is seeking to be allowed to apply to terror suspects. Newsweek magazine reported that a New York lawyer, Scott Horton, who has acted as an adviser to the US senate on interrogation methods, had acquired a list of the techniques. The details were corroborated by information obtained by the charity Human Rights Watch.
The techniques sought by the CIA are:
- induced hypothermia;
- forcing suspects to stand for prolonged periods;
- sleep deprivation;
- a technique called “the attention grab” where a suspect’s shirt is forcefully seized;
- the “attention slap” or open hand slapping that hurts but does not lead to physical damage;
- the “belly slap”;
- and sound and light manipulation.
Oh. The. Horrors.
These are the same type of people that fired four rounds into the back of a 70-year-old nun over the weekend just because she was Catholic. But the world media is getting their panties in a wad because the CIA might actually use bright lights during the interrogation of such a person. Exactly what bio-toxin is floating the the Potomac River that causes testicles to whither and dry up?
Then comes Senator John McCain (R-AZ):
“This issue is not them — this issue is about us,” he said of terrorists, facing an audience sipping cocktails on a lush lawn next to a pool. “The United States has always been better than our enemies. I’ll tell you right now: one of the things in prison, in North Vietnam, that kept us strong was that we knew we were not like our enemies. That we came from a better nation, with better values, with better standards.”
“What is this all about?” he continued. “It’s all about the United States of America and what is going to happen to Americans who are taken prisoner in future wars.”
Huh? According to McCain forcing Khaled Sheikh Mohammed to stand would make us no better than terrorists, although he never actually explains how or why. These ‘techniques’ sound a lot like the ‘character building’ activities my son went through at Marine Corps boot camp.
It’s a sad day in our Republic when we wring our hands over the moral consequences of giving pink-bellies to headchoppers. The thought of Islamists decapitating Americans used to turn my stomach, but now I’ve seen the true face of evil – loud music! Osama has got to be laughing his butt off at us.
And then comes former President Jimmy Carter – the only man that never met a Dictator he didn’t like:
“They have redefined torture to make it convenient for them,” Carter said of the Bush administration in an interview with Reuters.
“Things that are unanimously almost or globally assumed to be torture, they claim that this is not torture. I don’t think there is any doubt that is what they are doing.”
Exactly what protections are our troops being provided by the Geneva Convention? No enemy we’ve ever fought or are fighting has abided by it. So, in real world terms, the Geneva Convention provides no protection for our troops whatsoever. If we completely withdrew from the Geneva Convention tomorrow, it would have no impact at all on how our troops are treated. Therefore what’s so wrong about the CIA keeping a Islamofascist awake during questioning?
And you people of Arizona – how is it that you continue to send McCain to Washington? I’m so disappointed in you.
Does anyone believe that the Islamofascists will stop beheading civilians, and stop shooting nuns in the back, if we promise not to grab their shirt? Has fear finally paralyzed Washington?
MCCAIN, YOU WANT TO SEE VIOLATIONS OF THE GENEVA CONVENTION?
CARTER, DO YOU WANT TO SEE EXACTLY WHAT THEY’RE DOING TO PRISONERS?
MCCAIN, DO YOU NEED TO EXAMINE WHAT YOU’RE REFERRING TO AS MORAL EQUIVALENCE?
