Ned Lamont: A Man Of The “People”

August 9th, 2006 · No Comments

Democrats lost the 2004 presidential election over leadership on national security. Last night’s win by anti-war Ned Lamont over pro-war Joe Lieberman, while joyous for the far-left netroots crowd, could be a bad sign for future Democratic Party prospects nationally in 2008 and beyond. The incessant commentary that 2/3rd of the country is against the war completely misreads the American public, as much of the negativity towards the war isn’t because we are fighting, but rather a growing feeling that we are not fighting to win – although many Liberals cannot distinguish the difference.

Edward M. “Ned” Lamont, Jr. was born January 1954 in Washington, D.C. He earned his millions from setting up cable TV systems for college campuses.

Ned Lamont is the great-grandson of former J.P. Morgan & Co. Chairman Thomas W. Lamont, so he comes from big money. As a matter of fact Lamont has a self-reported net worth valued between $90 million and $300 million; the assessed value of Lamont’s Greenwich home was $30 million itself.

His father, Ted, was an economist who worked with the Marshall Plan, rebuilding Europe after WWII and repelling the encroaching Communist threat.

Lamont is also the grand-nephew of humanist philosopher Corliss Lamont who was director of the American Civil Liberties Union from 1932 to 1954, president emeritus of the American Humanist Association, author of 16 books, and a lifelong peace activist who protested against the liberation of Kuwait in the first Gulf War.

Lamont calls himself a progressive, the current Leftist buzzword for the new One World Socialist, devoid of religion and nationalism. He is a darling of both MoveOn.org and Kos.

He grew up in a Republican home. But when he turned 18 the Vietnam War was was still going on. Faced with the possibility of having to join the military he became a George McGovern “America, come home” Democrat – something closely akin to his stand on the current war in Iraq. Bot don’t dare forget that “bring them home” is the equivalent of “we quit, we give up”, something that most Americans – Liberal or Conservative, are soundly against.

So the Nutroots finally get their candidate. This should energize them into a frothing frenzy. The question is: will Lamont be his own man and make his own decisions, or will he be a puppet of the Soros Empire? Will he remember his capitalist side of the family, or the Socialist side?
