Why Are You Looking So Shocked? World War III Started Years Ago.

I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again: militant Islam is a cancer on civilization. And like any biological cancer you either deal with it strongly today or it becomes larger and more deadly tomorrow. If you don’t believe me just skip this week’s edition of “American Idol” or “Perky Katie at CBS News” – and read a history book.

Step 1:
On November 29, 1947, the General Assembly of the United Nations voted with a 2/3 majority to partition western Palestine into a Jewish and an Arab state. Israel proclaimed itself a nation on May 14, 1948, with David Ben-Gurion as Prime Minister.

Step 2:
The Arabs not only rejected partition, but attacked Israel from all sides. On the day that Israel declared its independence, the Arab League Secretary, General Azzam Pasha declared “jihad”, a holy war. He said, “This will be a war of extermination and a momentous massacre which will be spoken of like the Mongolian massacres and the Crusades”. The Mufti of Jerusalem, Haj Amin Al Husseini stated, “I declare a holy war, my Moslem brothers! Murder the Jews! Murder them all!” The armies of lebanon, Syria, Jordan, Egypt and Iraq invaded the tiny new country with the declared intent of destroying it. But they failed.

Step 3:
In 1949 Israel signed armistice agreements with Egypt, Syria, Lebanon and Transjordan, which in April 1949 changed its name to Jordan.

Step 4:
During the early months of 1966, and continuing, it became clear that Israel’s neighbors were escalating activities against her. More and more Israeli civilians were killed in attacks coming from the Syrian and Jordanian borders. The Syrians, from atop the Golan Heights, shelled Israeli towns indiscriminately. Here we have Arabs attacking Israeli civilians, not just Israeli military. Neither the UN nor the international community did much to help Israel – sort of like things are today. Included in this are the following:
- On May 15, 1967, Egyptian forces moved into the Sinai.
- On May 18, 1967, Egypt expelled the U.N. Peacekeeping forces from Israel’s borders.
- On May 22, 1967, the Egyptians closed the Straits of Tiran to Israeli shipping.
- On May 25, 1967, encouraged by Egypt – Syria, Jordan, Iraq and Saudi Arabia moved their troops to Israel’s borders.
- On May 26, 1967, President Nasser of Egypt declared, “Our basic goal is the destruction of Israel.”

Step 5:
Modelled after the November 1966 Egyptian-Syrian “defence” pact, other pacts were signed by Egypt with Jordan and Iraq on May 30th and June 4th, thereby completing the encirclement of Israel. Israel had enough. An attack was imminent from every side. Rhetoric and sermons were being preached to the Arabs about the impending destruction of israel. Israel could just sit there and wait for death – or act. They chose to act. With tensions mounting, the Straits of Tiran blocked, and Arab armies poised to strike, Israel decided (on June 5th 1967) to launch a pre-emptive attack on the massive Egyptian forces aimed at her. Within 190 minutes the backbone of the Egyptian airforce was broken, and by the end of the first day of war 298 Egyptian airplanes were destroyed. Backed by complete air superiority, Israeli army divisions then thrust into the Sinai desert approaching the bank of the Suez Canal. At the same time, Israel issued an appeal to Jordan to stay out of the war. Jordan refused and opened a heavy artillery barrage on both west Jerusalem and the Tel-Aviv area which forced Israel to counterattack. By June 8th the Israel Defence Forces defeated the Jordanian forces and captured the whole of Judea and Samaria. On the morning of June 9th, Israel attacked the Syrians and captured the Golan Heights. From these heights, Syria had shelled and destroyed 205 houses, 175 acres of orchards and 75 acres of grain. The six days of fierce figthing ended in Israel’s occupation of the Sinai desert and the Gaza Strip, the Golan Heights and the West Bank, providing Israel’s cities with a much needed buffer zone and dramatically reducing the danger of extinction by a surprise Arab attack.

Step 6:
Over the next several years, under intense pressure from the rest of the world, Israel has returned the areas she captured during the Six Days War. But the attacks against Israel have never stopped no matter what concessions she gives to the Arabs.

Recently the Hamas government in the Palestinian territories, itself a terrorist group, decided to kidnap an Israeli soldier. They want some prisoners released in exchange for the prisoner. Israel responded not by bowing to the terrorists (as the UN wants her to do) but with military force.

Now, up North in Lebanon, that area is controlled by another Islamic terrorist group called Hezbollah. They decided it would be cute if they snuck across the border and grabbed two more Israeli soldiers. So they did, taking them both hostage. Israel has information that Lebanese guerrillas who captured two Israeli soldiers are trying to transfer them to Iran.

Israel decided that was an act of war, and they have responded with full firepower. They have decided that enough is enough – and it’s about time. What would YOU say if your country was being constantly attacked by the same people over the last 60 years?

President Bush said Thursday that Israel has the right to defend itself. Duh.

Russia and France condemned Israel’s strikes in Lebanon on Thursday as a dangerous escalation of the Middle East conflict. There should be no surprise here. France has never shown either the ability or desire to even defend itself, much less recommend someone else trying it. Russia, on the other hand, has to support the terrorists because they’re some of Russia’s best weapon customers (where to you think Hezbollah got all those Katyusha rockets?).

Hezbollah guerrillas in Lebanon launched more than 80 rockets and mortars into Israel on Thursday. In northern Israel, thousands of civilians spent the night in underground shelters. The Lebanese government insisted it had no prior knowledge of the Hezbollah raid and did not condone it. Yet there is no evidence that Lebanon is doing anything to either stop Hezbollah or return the two Israeli soldiers.

Israeli warships imposed a naval blockade of Lebanese ports, and the Israeli military said it could also target the Beirut-to-Damascus highway, the main land link between Lebanon and the outside world.

The abundant anti-Israel groups (in the US, in Europe, in the UN) want to appease the Islamic terrorists. No matter how many children, old women, and civilians these thugs kill the anti-Israel crowd always take Islam’s side. Why?

The media is saying, “World powers have pleaded for restraint to stop the fiercest Israeli-Lebanese clashes in a decade slipping into all-out war,” but this is a falsehood. What they are really saying is, “World powers have pleaded for Israeli restraint…”

Says Gavriel:

“Israel clearly wants nothing but to live in peace in its own country. If Israel were looking for a fight, looking in any way to impose an imperialistic Israeli state on the region, then Damascus would already have fallen. Do not tell me Israel looks for war after all the failed risks we have already taken for peace — many Israelis are still ready even today to compromise for peace if there were only a compromise the other side would accept.”

“Those who fight camoflauged as civilians and who fire their missiles at our civilians from their own civilian backyards, shooting at soldiers from the middle of crowds of their own children, and then complain when their target fires back, those are the ones responsible. Those who do not police their own sovereign territory, instead allowing an independent militia (that also happens to sit in the government) to install thousands of rockets and fire them off at neighbors also bear responsibility.”

“Anyone who cares about the well-being of civilians needs to condemn the terrorists and “militants” who endanger their own people in the hopes of scoring a little PR victory by drawing Israel either into protecting itself and harming civilians, or not fighting back and allowing itself to be overrun. And the rest of you, the ones who will blame Israel regardless of the facts, I presently do not have time for.”

“A time comes when a nation must decide whether it wishes to continue to exist as a meaningful entity. Israel will not accept the suicide so many want to talk her into. And Israel is not the only country that should recognize it faces such a choice.”

A true, lasting peace will only be achieved through a decisive military victory. It’s time for Israel to finish the job once and for all and exterminate Hezbollah and Hamas from the face of the Earth. Permanently.

Says jaybear:

There’s an interesting comparison in warfighting to be made here:
1. Two American soldiers get kidnapped and butchered and our high court gives the enemy lawyers.
2. Israeli soldiers get kidnapped and they give the enemy hell.
Which one do you think is the winning strategy?

He gets it.

Thanks for shining a light of sanity on all this chaos (and linking to me in the process!). Keep up the good work.
