1. President Bush arrived in Baghdad today for a face-to-face meeting with new Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki — an effort, the White House said, to get a clear sense of the premier’s priorities and how the U.S. government could help his government succeed. “I’ve come to not only look you in the eye,” Bush told al-Maliki. “I also come to tell you that when America gives its word, it keeps its word.” Bush also told the Prime Minister “Our military will stay on the offense. We will continue to hunt down people like Mr. Zarqawi and bring them to justice.”

2. Hillary Clinton gave a speech at a “Take Back America” rally. She was united with other One-World’ers Nancy Pelosi and John Kerry. But then came the boos. Code Pink and other activists moved themselves up front, so it sounds like half the room is angry. At the end of her tepid speech are more boos – enough that organizer Robert Borosage runs back to the podium to save face: “Thank you for the … curious reception of our audience.”

3. The prosecutor in the C.I.A. leak case on Monday advised Karl Rove, the senior White House adviser, that he would not be charged with any wrongdoing, effectively ending the nearly three-year criminal investigation that had at times focused intensely on Mr. Rove. Yep, what the Conservatives have been saying for many months now – Rove didn’t commit any crimes in regards to the Valerie Plame Wilson kerfluffle. Oh, by the way, just why did Joseph C. Wilson go to Niger? Happy Fitzmas.

4. Zarqawi is still dead.
