“Many people avoid the number. They’re afraid of it almost, and there’s absolutely no reason to be afraid of it,” he said. “It is not a prediction of future events. It all started with Revelation 13:18 (sometimes called “The Apocalypse of John”) in the Bible: “This calls for wisdom: let him who has understanding reckon the number of the beast, for it is a human number, its number is six hundred and sixty-six.” The Beast is also known as the Antichrist. There is a theory/idea regarding the biblical meaning of 666. Man was created on the sixth day and the Supreme Being is three persons (Father, Son and Holy Ghost). Therefore the number 6 represents Man and the fact that it is repeated three times implies that man is trying to be God. A Netherlands-based Evangelical organisation has called on Christians in 21 countries to hold a 24-hour prayer vigil against Satanic forces to mark so-called Devil’s Day. The Dutch-based organisation Ambassadors Ministries called its 24-hour prayer vigil from 6:00 pm (1600 GMT) Monday, saying it hoped some 2,000 Dutch Christians, mainly Protestants, would take part. |
