Osama bin Laden issued new threats in an audiotape broadcast on Arab television Sunday and accused the United States and Europe of supporting a “Zionist” war on Islam by cutting off funds to the Hamas-led Palestinian government.
“The blockade which the West is imposing on the government of Hamas proves that there is a Zionist, crusaders’ war on Islam,” bin Laden said.
He also urged followers to go to Sudan, his former base, to fight a proposed U.N. peacekeeping force.
His words, the first new message by the al-Qaida leader in three months, seemed designed to justify potential attacks on civilians - something al-Qaida has been criticized for even by its Arab supporters.
He also appeared to be trying to drum up support among Arabs by accusing the West of targeting Hamas, a militant group that fights against Israel and now heads the Palestinian government.
Citing the West’s decision to cut off aid to the Hamas-led government because it refuses to renounce violence or recognize Israel, bin Laden said Washington and Europe were waging war on Islam.
So Bin Laden is angry with the US because we won’t financially support Hamas, a group that has publically stated that Israel must be removed from hte map.
Then a New York rally by the Islamic Thinkers Society outside the Israeli consulate Friday featured chants of “The mushroom cloud is on its way! The real holocaust is on its way!”
The demonstration by the Queens-based group waved signs including “Islam will Dominate” and a picture with an Islamic flag flying over the White House. They chanted:
“With our blood and our lives we will liberate al Aqsa!”
Al Aqsa is in East Jerusalem, a disputed territory governed as part of Israel but demanded by Palestinians as part of a future State of Palestine.
“Israeli Zionists What do you say? The real Holocaust is on its way.” “Takbeer!” “Allahu Akbar!”
“Takbeer” is an Arabic name for the phrase “Allahu Akbar”, which means “God is the greatest”.
“Israel won’t last long … Indeed, Allah will repeat the Holocaust right on the soil of Israel.”
Al-Qaida is not believed to have direct links to Hamas (which is an outgrowth of the Muslim Brotherhood). Hamas spokesman Sami Abu Zuhri was quick to distance the group from bin Laden, declaring that “the ideology of Hamas is totally different from the ideology of Sheik bin Laden.”
The groups do, however, share an anti-Israel ideology that calls for the destruction of the Jewish state. And recent reports in Middle East media have said al-Qaida is trying to build cells in the Gaza Strip, the West Bank, Lebanon and Sudan.
Hmmm. So I guess this makes this old Highlander a Crusader now. And NO, I’m not against Islam as a faith (even though I worry about someone whose scripture extolls the righteous to kill any unbelievers). No, I’m deadly against those that would leave their homes, come to my house, and gleefully kill my family. Anyone that targets innocents gets no mercy from me. Therefore, according to Osama’s definition, I am now a Crusader. I wonder how they’ll take to bagpipes in Palestine?
The battle lines are being drawn whether you like it or not. You will simply have to choose which side you prefer to stand on.

Three explosions rocked the Sinai resort city of Dahab on Monday night leaving at least 100 dead and wounded, according to the doctor who runs Egypt’s rescue squad in the peninsula. One blast hit a hotel, a second a restaurant and the third explosion rocked the resort town’s market area.
This attack was not aimed at any government. This attack was not aimed at any military.
This attack was aimed specifically at innocent civilians. This is high tourist season - part of a five-day Egyptian holiday - and hotels all along the Egyptian coasts could be expected to be at near capacity.
Groups claiming links to Al-Qaida took responsibility for those attacks, and Egyptian authorities say new Islamic militant groups have arisen in the peninsula.
And these are the same people liberal icon Michael Moore calls “freedom fighters”?
