Tuesday Open Trackback / Linkfest

January 24th, 2006 · 11 Comments

Trackbacked at Don Surber, Right Wing Nation, basil’s blog, Adam’s blog, and Stop The ACLU:

Tuesday is considered either the second or the third day of the week, between Monday and Wednesday. It is the second day of the week in Europe and in systems using the ISO 8601 norm.

The English and Scandinavian names are derived from the Nordic god ‘Tyr’.

In the Greek world, Tuesday (the day of the week of the Fall of Constantinople) is considered an unlucky day.

The same is true in the Spanish-speaking world, where a proverb runs En martes, ni te cases ni te embarques (‘On Tuesday, neither get married nor begin a journey’). The Spanish word for Tuesday, “Martes”, is associated with the planet Mars.

Mars is also associated witht he French word for Tuesday, “Mardi” This marries Tuesday with ideas of strife, battles to be won and pressing issues and jobs to get sorted. It is not a day to relax.

In the popular rhyme, “Tuesday’s child is full of grace”.

Here it is the Tuesday Open Trackback / Linkfest Day. If you have something that you would like to share please leave a trackback to that post, and link to this post so others can join in on the linkfest.

If you don’t understand what a trackback is go here for a good explanation. If your blog doesn’t generate trackbacks use this form or this one.

And folks, GO CLICK AND READ what others are blogging about. That’s the purpose of this linkfest.

    Media Bias a Myth?

I have maintained for some time now that media bias isn’t just on the side of how they present the news, but also on what stories they choose to present in the first place.

Grieving is a personal process, it takes however long the individual NOT SOCIETY or ANYONE determines. It can take months or years. Widows and widowers re-marry frequently in the first year or two after their other spouse dies.
