A Recap Of US Media 2005, vol. 6

Here’s a bit more on the desire of the US media that Iraq will crumble into chaos. No matter what has happened they always look to the worst case scenario.

The January elections in Iraq were both successful and peaceful, much to the dismay of the US media. Here is an exchange heard on MSNBC’s Hardball on January 28, just before Iraq’s first free elections:

Chris Matthews: “What does it smell like over there [in Baghdad]? Do you sense fireworks?”

NBC’s Campbell Brown: “You do, Chris….On the street, you get the sense that something big is about to happen, something big and fairly ugly.”

Nothing big happened. Nothing big and fairly ugly happened. So either NBC’s Campbell Brown had no idea what was going on around her, or she was simply hoping for the worst. Either way, is this what you want from your “unbiased” media?

Here’s an exchange from FNC’s Fox & Friends on the same day:

Co-host Mike Jerrick: “What do you think’s going to happen Sunday?”

FNC reporter Steve Harrigan, just back from Iraq: “I think there’s going to be a bloodbath on Sunday….All over the place, especially in Baghdad and a few other cities.”

Again, there was no bloodbath. From where are these “reporters” getting their facts? Were these reporters even in the same country as the people that peacefully voted?
